Find your landing place nestled in a cottage amidst a PNW garden landscape with peekaboo views of the Puget Sound. The main suite boasts furniture hand built of old growth timber with modern amenities and a fully stocked kitchen and coffee bar. The attached sun room provides a tranquil setting with a hammock and expansive garden windows that offer natural sunlight. 8 min drive from the Kingston ferry to Seattle. The Upper Left Landing is a completely separate and private guest house, sharing a 1 acre parcel with my home. The cottage is located approximately 100 ft away and includes bottom up/top down shades for added privacy. The main guest suite is a studio, with all the vibes of the Pacific Northwest. The kitchen includes a fully stocked coffee and tea bar with a variety of local coffee beans and teas and preparation methods - pressed, poured over or traditionally brewed. All the utensils and necessities for cooking, including a smaller blender and waffle maker (including all the necessities for waffle making). There is no microwave. Sip your coffee from a bar top hand made from old growth Douglas fir, and enjoy the peekaboo view of the Puget Sound from the hand built bed made of old barn wood from the Skagit Valley. The attached sun room includes the lower hang out area, a couch and a hammock. There is no guest access into the loft above at this time. The sun room is lightly insulated and colder during the winter months when there is not as much sun to heat it. Two portable heaters are provided for you to heat the sun room while you are there. I am available if you need anything - whether it be a recommendation for a nearby hike or you left the toothpaste at home. The Olympic Peninsula was my home for nearly 50 years and I would love to share some of my favorite spots with you. Of course, if you are here for solo relaxation, the cottage is yours, so please treat it as so. The cottage is located in a residential area on a 1 acre parcel overlooking an empty lot with a peekaboo view of the Puget Sound. The Upper Left Landing is a 10 minute drive (3.5 mi) from the Kingston ferry terminal. Take the car/bike/passenger ferry sailing from Edmonds, or, walk/bike over on the passenger-only fast ferry directly from downtown Seattle (currently operating Monday through Friday only during the off-season). The town of Kingston is lively in the Summer months, hosting the gateway from the Olympic and Kitsap Peninsula to the Seattle metro. Stop by the Saturday Farmers Market (May-Oct), try Mora Iced Creamery's famous blackberry ice cream (available only on this side of the Puget Sound). Stop by CBs Nuts - our own local producer of barrel roasted peanuts and peanut butter. Grab a beer or Kombucha at Downpour, our local family owned craft microbrew taproom. Visit Bloedel Reserve, one of America's 10 best Botanical Gardens, a 20 minute drive to nearby Bainbridge Island. Stop by a tasting room at a vineyard on the Island or see what's new at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art. A 15 minute drive, is home of the picturesque national historic landmark, Port Gamble - Washington's oldest company owned town located on the shores of the scenic Hood Canal. Visit one of many lavender farms located an hour drive in Sequim WA. Drive an additional 30 minutes to Olympic National Park's gateway including nearby Lake Crescent and Hurricane Ridge. The cottage is located near the end of a dirt road - we ask all guests to abide by the 10 mph speed limit to mitigate dust and ensure the safety of our neighbors. Drive, or ride your bike onto the ferry sailing from Edmonds or downtown Seattle to Kingston. The Upper Left Landing is approximately 3.5 miles from the Kingston ferry terminal - a 10 minute drive or 20 minute bike ride. If walking over the ferry, some ride share services are available in Kingston (expect longer wait times than in the city) however this is not recommended if you are planning on exploring beyond the town of Kingston. The Upper Left Landing is located on a dirt road which we share with our neighbors - for the safety of our neighbors and to mitigate dust, please diligently respect Alderwood Lane's 10 mph speed limit. The sun room relies on the sunlight of longer, warmer days for maintaining a comfortable temperature. During the winter, there are portable heater available for you to use to heat that area. Please unplug the heaters when you leave the cottage. There is no microwave. Otherwise, the kitchen is fully stocked.
