Tropical paradise close to Colombo and the airport

Our beautiful Sri Lankan house is a quiet sanctuary only 25 minutes away from the airport, in the lively suburb of Wattala, just 5 kms north of Colombo. It is the perfect place for your family and friends to start and end your holiday in Sri Lanka. For those who don't prefer to create their own itinerary, our home makes an ideal base for excursions to the Cultural Triangle, Kandy, Hill Country as well as day trips to Colombo (20 mins train), Negombo (30mins car) and Galle (2hrs bus). Our home is a modern house, designed in the traditional Sri Lankan style of high ceilings and an indoor garden. The walled garden is packed with flowers, surrounded by tall tropical palms. You'll have relaxing breakfast sitting on the balcony, listening to the dawn chorus. The large outer garden has a variety of fruit trees such a Mango, Belli, Lemon, Pomegranite and Guava, planted to encourage the birds. It also has indigenous wood trees like Kumbuk, Satinwood and Ebony. You will have access to the entire house and garden, except the master bedroom When we are not there, your stay will be managed by our friend Jay Jayakody, who will arrange eveything to make your stay relaxing and smooth. Jay can also organise any car and driver if you want to organise your own excursions. Wattala is a safe, lively suburb just 4 kms north of Colombo. Since very few tourists visit the area, you'll meet local Sri Lankans going about their daily lives. You will be treated with friendly kindness and generosity wherever you go AND you'll only pay local prices! Wattala has a huge number of eating places (eat-in and take-out) where you can have great value breakfast, lunch and dinners. There are a variety of good quality restaurants, mainly Sri Lankan, Indian and Chinese, all are very reasonably priced. Colombo, down the road has every type of restaurant and bar you could want! For an afternoon swim at the beach we'd recomend either Pegasus Reef Hotel (15 mins by 3-wheeler) which has a beach and pool as well as a super fish restaurant. For a whole day out at the beach, we'd recomend going to Negumbo (40 mins by taxi/3-wheeler), the nearest tourist destination (if in doubt, ask Jay). There are regular suburban trains and buses to Colombo (journey 20 - 40 mins). You can also book Uber or 'Pick Me' (Sri Lankan version of Uber) vehicles which are cheap and efficient. For longer trips we'd recommend that you use a personal driver. We can arrange this for you. Jay can arrange for you to be collected from and transferred to the airport.
