Countryside tranquility in the Lot
A traditional Quercy farmhouse and gite (villa), tranquilly situated with spectacular views over fertile farmlands, at the Southern tip of the acclaimed Lot region. The setting is idyllic, with cultivated gardens, blooming fruit trees and a large heated pool, ideal for extended family holidays. The region is gastronomically and culturally diverse. Fields of sunflowers line the roads to spectacular local villages, famed for their foie gras, truffles, and "Cahors black" wine. Accommodation is divided between the farmhouse and gite. The gite has 3 bedrooms inside the house, a twin, a double and a single room with a child's cot. It also has an adjoining twin room which is accessed independently. The farmhouse has three bedrooms, the master bedroom with king size bed, a bedroom with 3 single beds, and the mezzanine bedroom with a double bed and sofa bed. This room opens onto the lounge below and is accessed via a quaint old spiral staircase. We advise it's best suited to teenagers or young adult guests (and not young children or the elderly). Our property is well set up to accommodate children, with gated access to the pool and plenty of equipment (high chair, cot, and toys). Our kids love its freedom and picking their own fruit (especially the blackberries!). Our info pack provides suggestions for child friendly outings. Wifi is available but cannot be 100% guaranteed, as we do experience occasional interruptions. I'll be available via email, and very happy to answer any questions. We provide an extensive house manual and guestbook and in case of emergencies our local caretaker can assist. This is a beautiful area for walking, and we enjoy an energetic stroll (uphill!) to the very quiet village of Belfort du Quercy for a croissant and coffee (about 3k if you prefer to drive), or to the nearby "look out" point and picnic table. The highlight of the local calendar is the village Summer "fete" (festival) season showcasing local talent, traditional music & regional cuisine. These are wonderful events and not to be missed. We provide details of these and other entertainments, including nearby horse riding, wine tasting (both within a few kilometres of Annoyer), kayaking, hiking, mountain biking and fresh food markets in our information pack. We can also organise for a chef to cook supper on site while you relax and enjoy the views. Guests will need a car as this is a rural property. We can suggest local taxis if not all members of your party want to drive. The nearest train station is Caussade (15 mins). The nearest airport is Toulouse (just over an hour's drive) or Rodez (an hour and a half).
