Violet May's Retreat is the perfect place to relax and unwind in a secluded setting with stunning and extensive views of the beautiful Exe estuary. There is easy access to coastal and estuary walks and cycle routes, including the South West Coastal Path. Although set back from the parking area, 'Daisy May, a self-drive buggy,' is available to transport you to the Retreat. Cockwood has 215 residents and is a quiet and picturesque village with two local pubs and a church. Certain times of the day from the retreat you will see deer pheasants badgers and an assortment of wild birds including woodpeckers and jays. Also make sure you bring your camera with you as the evening sunsets are particularly stunning. There is a railway station at nearby Starcross. The local Exeter/Newton Abbot bus service stops 5 minutes walk away. The nearest village is Starcross which has a railway station and general stores plus a small golf course ( no membership required).Dawlish Warren beach and golf club is five minute drive away. The holiday town of Dawlish is just three miles away. The local bus service from Exeter Dawlish Teignmouth Newton Abbot and Torquay is a five minute walk to the bus stop.
