Romantic Tinkywinky’s Shepherds Hut

In the pretty hamlet of Freefolk you will find our spacious charming Shepherds hut which is fully-insulated and set in its own paddock, a WiFi, stove, hob, king size bed, sofa, dining table, indoor toilet, shower, fridge, solar electricity, fire pit and outdoor furniture. The paddock overlooks our horses, pet sheep, bird life & chickens. A short walk will take you to the award winning Watership Down & Bombay Sapphire distillery. The surrounding area boasts beautiful walks. Dogs welcomed free We live just down the Lane so will be available throughout your stay Tinkywinky’s hut is located in the hamlet of Freefolk equidistant from the villages of Overton and Whitchurch, nestled in the beautiful Test Valley. Surrounding the hut are stunning walks through the countryside, as well as along the river test. There is something for all abilities. Free bicycles are also provided for you to explore the countryside. The hut is sustainably powered using solar cells and is located within a large enclosed paddock (circa 100m x 30m) that is fully fenced on all sides making it dog safe - there is no additional charges for bringing your dogs. There is plenty of bird life, previous guests have sighted Red Kites, Barn Owls, Little Owl, Tawny Owls, Kestrels, Lapwings, and Sparrow Hawks in the paddocks. It is a 5 minute stroll to the Harroway, a 10 minute walk to the award winning Watership Down Inn and a 20 minute walk (or 2 min drive) to Bombay Sapphire Gin Distillery. We recommend booking in advance for both the Pub and the Distillery as they are very popular, preferably before you arrive. Whitchurch and Overton are a 5 minute drive away where you will find small shops, pubs and cafes. There is also a wide range of restaurants & takeaways in the villages, should you not wish to cook. Both villages have train stations with a direct line to London (50 minutes). The historic city of Winchester is a 15 minute drive and Oxford can be reached in 45 minutes. Winchester has multiple visitor attractions such as the Cathedral, Museum, Planetarium, Marwell Zoo and Local Farmers market. Close by you will also find Highclere Castle (where Downton Abbey was filmed), Laverstoke Park Farm, the award winning Hardy’s garden centre and the famous Watership Downs. Slightly further afield (max 1 hour) you will find the New forest, Bournemouth Beach, dry ski slope, Beaulieu Motor museum, and Jane Austin’s museum. A car is highly advised. Safe parking on the gravel portion of the paddock is provided. There are bus stops a 15 min walk away, and busses that run every hour to the local towns and villages. Both Whitchurch (Hampshire) and Overton have train stations, that connect to London. Pick up from the station is available on request.
