The Stable Loft is part of the Oaklands Guest House situated at The Fitzroy Inn Historic Retreat. The stable loft is a petite European style room that has steep stairs to enter. A perfect destination for your romantic getaway. The Fitzroy Inn was built in 1834 and established in 1836. As a staging inn for south bound travellers, it was the first establishment to have a liquor licence with accommodation and boasts the first tennis court in Australia. The main inn has been retained in it's original condition yet upgraded with modern facilities and comforts. Guests enjoy large lounge rooms and open fires and a restaurant to suit the most discerning guest. The dungeon has been preserved to display the layout of the original kitchen which includes a well, cells and other areas used by the bygone residents and guests. In the past, the Inn has been called 'Oaklands Guest House' and more recently brought back to its original name 'The Fitzroy Inn as when it was built. Our guests will enjoy the open fire places in the comfortable sitting rooms, our billiard room and lounge area and the unique restaurant with a delicious menu An easy hour and a half south of Sydney and two hours north of Canberra, The Fitzroy Inn Historic Retreat is approximately 8 minutes from the Mittagong train station.
