Delightful Renovated Grain Store
10 mins from bustling Clonakilty, in West Cork, our self-contained cottage offers 3+ guests simple comfort in a rural setting. Comprising a large en-suite bedroom below an open plan living/eating space, with access to a small garden, & free parking In a quiet, rural location, adjacent to our family home, we have converted an old grain store into a comfortable cottage. The upstairs living space is airy with a high pitched ceiling. It comprises a kitchenette (combi-microwave, 2 electric rings, kettle, toaster & fridge), eating area and sitting space with a sofa bed. It opens onto a small garden, accessed by steps both inside & outside. Downstairs is a large bedroom, which sleeps 3, with en-suite shower room. Washing machine available. Guests can make use of the small garden attached to the cottage. There is plenty of free parking. The cottage is completely self-contained and detached from the family home. At present the cottage has no wifi or TV, (we think that's a bonus on holiday) but most mobile networks have a strong signal. We are happy to provide basic welcome hamper of provisions to get you started ... tea, coffee milk, breakfast supplies etc including our own eggs when the hens are in full production mode! We hope our guests enjoy the privacy our property allows & respect our family privacy too. However, we have 3 teenagers, 2 large but friendly dogs and a variety of other pets & poultry so some interaction will be inevitable especially as there are often visitors to our house! Having both grown up in England with Irish connections we relocated back to West Cork in 1999 and have lived in our present house since 2003. We love the area for many reasons but in particular the easy access to vibrant Clonakilty (10mins), the stunning West Cork coastline (15mins) and countryside, and Cork City & airport (40mins). The Wild Atlantic Way is on our doorstep ready for you to explore. Some buses from Cork City and also from towns west of Clonakilty stop in the village of Ballinascarthy which is 1.5km from us. All buses stop in Clonakilty which is 5km. As access to our house is via an un-surfaced road with a deceptively steep climb, a car is the best means of transport. Bikes are also an option if you're feeling fit! As already mentioned, we have several animals and we often have family visitors so guests must be pet and child friendly! We welcome families but due to the compact nature of the accommodation it may not be suitable for very young children or large numbers. Please also be aware our cottage is a very old stone building in a rural farming location. It is quiet, clean and comfortable with rustic charm, and there maybe farming activity going on during your stay. It also means we can't offer 5* luxury... for that you need to book Inchydoney Lodge & Spa Hotel, which comes with a slightly higher price tag!
