The Captain’s Quarters
The Captain’s Quarters are a spacious, beautifully decorated first floor apartment that contains two double (or twin) bedrooms, a luxurious lounge and a separate kitchen. The bathroom has a shower and we provide towels. There is plenty of room for four people and, if necessary, a cot and/or junior bed can be added. The Quarters are situated in close proximity to restaurants and bars as well as supermarkets, boutiques and other shops. It’s a 10-minute stroll to the beach and the train station. All rooms are tastefully decorated with a unique quirky touch. The luxurious front room contains a cozy seating area as well as a piano, and there is a dining table for your meals. The fully equipped kitchen includes a modern oven, electric hob, fridge-freezer, microwave as well as a washing machine. Tea and coffee are available at any time. The apartment has wireless internet access and a HD Smart TV. The Quarters are only a 10-minute walk from Chalkwell station and a 15-minute drive from Southend Airport. Please note, there is no parking space allocated to the property. However, street parking on the roadside and in the extended area is available. If we are not able to welcome you personally, the key will be in a lockbox. The code will be sent to you before arrival. Situated on the northern side of the Thames Estuary and voted one of the best places to live in England, Leigh-on-Sea is a small seaside town full of quirky character and picturesque charm. In close proximity to the better-known Southend-on-Sea and its popular seaside attractions, Leigh offers plenty of its own sights and eateries to keep everyone entertained. There are art galleries and craft shops, a great selection of pubs, excellent fish restaurants and the famous cockle sheds. The perfect place to relax and breathe in the fresh sea air. Take a stroll along the thriving high street with its artisan coffee places and charming boutiques or head down to Old Leigh, a once busy fishing village with idyllic sea views, cobbled streets and a small but delightful beach – regularly voted in the top 100 British beaches. Taste fresh sea food or, when the tide and weather are right, go swimming, windsurfing, kayaking or sailing. There are plenty of hiking opportunities too: The seaside path itself stretches up to seven miles. Two Tree Island and the medieval ruin of Hadleigh Castle with its expansive country park are close-by. The Bowers Marshes and Watt Tyler nature reserves can be accessed quickly by car and offer wide spaces for a fun family day out. At low tide, Leigh’s foreshore has extensive mud flats and creeks, stretching offshore into the deep estuary of the Thames (Yantlet Channel). Leigh is well-connected via road and rail networks. You can be in Central London within the hour. Southend airport is only a 15-minute car ride away. There's a no-smoking policy inside this Airbnb. Please also note this is not a place for parties or events, and visitors must be agreed with the host beforehand. For the sake of our neighbours, quiet time is between 11pm to 8am. Pets are not allowed.
