FAQ Can a woman wear a Bikini? On inhabited Islands no, but in the case of Hulhumale, there is a designated Tourist beach where tourists do wear Bikini, it's only for use of Tourists. At private resorts yes you can. Where is the Hulhumale Tourist Beach? From where you will be staying it's not that far, 19 mins by walking, but not an everyday walk you will want to make. We will love to arrange personal bike for your family, in that case, it would be a 5 min bike ride. Aside from that, the public beach is right outside of where you would be staying. Airport transfer, airport to where you are staying? I can arrange a private transfer for your family no problem, even personally be there. How is the weather? The Maldives has a warm, tropical climate with average highs at a consistent 29°C to 31°C year round and average lows rarely falling below 24°C. January to April are the driest months, with little rain and low humidity, making this peak season at the resorts. From May to December temperatures are still warm, but rain is more likely and there is a risk of storms. However, even during this period, there are usually long periods of bright sunshine, and attractive prices and offers mean this is still a common time to visit. It’s always hot and sometimes wet. The sometimes-wet part is because of the two monsoons... •The Southwest monsoon usually July to August •The Northeast monsoon usually November to March “What about diving & Snorkeling?” Visibility is said to be at its best during this time, but again, there are no strict rules; we snorkel and scuba dive in September and it’s fine. Some divers even think that the wetter season is the best time to visit the Maldives as it means more plankton and greater chances of encountering dolphins and mantas. What about May to October? Weather is pretty good during this period too, so yes, it’s another ‘‘best time to visit the Maldives’’. This is because although it’s called the monsoon season, it’s not like a real monsoon. There aren’t endless days of rain that continue from May until October. It’s more likely to be 30 minutes one day, a couple of hours on another day and at worst on and off rain for a couple of days. It’s because you don’t get torrential rain for months at a time that prices are similar year round. The Maldives really is a year-round destination which is why you’ll find many sites that say the best time to visit the Maldives is all year round! In short: During the wetter season, the rain falls at night more than it does during the day. When it do rain during the day, it's still 30 degrees and the rain come in short bursts followed by bright blue skies. Banking Money and Finance? If your banking card is affiliated to VISA, Mastercard or Maestro you can easily use your cards at our ATM and Point of sale machine at shops and restaurants. US Dollars and Euro are easily exchanged. Other currencies are exchanged at Specialized exchanges and banks, which is possible at Airport & Malé / Hulhumalé as well. “Western Union” and other such money transfer establishment like “Money Gram” are easily accessible on the same city, by walking distance. Healthcare and Medicine? I would definitely recommend coming with travelers health insurance. Medical facilities are easily accessible at Hulhumale, there is the international Standard hospital, "Tree Top" [ (Website hidden by Airbnb) Without insurance you will have to pay a lot of your pocket at that hospital but the quality and service are top notch. The Hulhumalé Public hospital is a great place too, and you can probably get away without insurance if you had to pay in a situation. Payment detail and discount? If you pay through AirBnB yes we are aware that we get the money from them, we will not ask for that money from you. The price we are giving is quite low, if you want to rent a furnished payment for long term (1-year minimum contract with 2-month rent deposit) the price is 1600 to 1700 USD for 2 room apartment here. Food around the Neighborhood and Breakfast? We are delighted to say that food can eat good food around the neighborhood. Breakfast buffet at 4.19$ Other options at 7 to 9 USD The average meal is around 6 to 7 USD Of course, you can eat at a higher cost as well. Budget 10 dollars per person for a good eating out. At our apartment you will have access to a fully functioning kitchen, you can cook at home and go out on occasion. We will help with your shopping needs. Drinking water? The tap water supplied to homes in the Maldives is above the WHO standard for healthy drinking water. Once boiled it's very good to drink. But you will have the option to buy distilled bottled water or mineral water, it's your choice. If you like we can arrange delivery for you.
