Newly renovated, Jandarra Cottage is part of a working regenerative farm in the Gold Coast Hinterland 15-20 mins drive from Burleigh Heads beaches, cafes and restaurants. Come and enjoy bushwalks, rock pools, amazing rain forest views, abundant wildlife and star-studded night skies. Jandarra cottage is a place to find peace and tranquility, commune with nature, escape, relax, retreat. A converted stable, Jandarra Cottage is newly renovated using natural and recycled products wherever possible. An ideal place for a couple, family or for a small group of friends to spend time together. With two bedrooms, both with queen beds and a foldaway single bed, the cottage sleeps up to five people. There is one bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen. All high quality bed linen and towels are provided at Jandarra Cottage. The towels, pillows and bed toppers are certified organic. Please note, whilst the cottage has fans in bedrooms and the living area and the windows and doors capture the cross breezes, there is no air-con. The spacious living area and dining area connected to the outside patio area with outdoor setting overlooks magnificent hillside at the front and views into Tallebudgera Valley from the back picture window. The living area with Bluetooth speaker, books, games and puzzles. Sorry, no TV or wifi however you can mosey on over towards the house and find a place to connect. Kitchen is equipped with large fridge/freezer, gas stove and all necessary kitchen tools, cutlery and crockery. Oil, salt and pepper are provided as well as organic herbal teas and coffee. Regarding food, some organic spices are provided though please plan to bring everything you need. Organic washing up liquid, hand soaps, and organic shampoo/conditioner are also provided as we do what we can to minimise the use of synthetic chemicals. After exploring the property there is an outdoor bath to cool off in the summer or warm up in the winter. Outside around the fire-pit under the stars is a wonderful place to unwind in the evening and firewood is provided (outside of fire ban period). Jandarra also hosts a very small number of campers so you may meet like minded guests on the property or at the community campfire. Jandarra Cottage has been renovated with your privacy in mind and is located within a one acre community space including fire pit, amenities block, large shed (we call the unconvention centre). The farmhouse, where the owners live, is approximately 200 meters away and can help with any questions or additional needs that you may have during your stay. Jandarra Cottage is part of Jandarra, a 135 acre regenerative farm using cattle to build soil biology and rebalance nature without use of herbicides and pesticides. This is primarily achieved with holistic management practices - moving them everyday (to replace the predators), electric fences and small paddocks (26 of them actually). Further to that, Jandarra is the 40th property in Australia to undertake the Ecological Outcome Verification (EOV) Process through the Savory Institute. EOV was developed in collaboration with leading soil scientists, ecologists, agronomists and an extensive network of regenerative land managers around the world. EOV is a practical and scalable soil and landscape assessment methodology that tracks outcomes in biodiversity, soil health, and ecosystem function (water cycle, mineral cycle, energy flow and community dynamics). Jandarra has 10 Short term monitoring sites plus one long term monitoring site. By recognising both land regeneration targets and trends, EOV endorsement is bestowed as long as land health moves in a net positive direction. We believe EOV gives the land a voice, and through this process, provides us with feedback to make better management decisions. We welcome a conversation and to share more information when you visit. Permaculture practices and biodynamics, building market gardens, seed raising and planting trees in eroded areas are other activities we undertake. We also have natural bee hives, 30 chickens and throw flower seeds around to keep the pollinators happy. We have a few bathtubs full of worms too. The word Jandarra means 'place of peace' and this land offers time to be still and listen. There is great energy here and you are welcome to head into the hills for a hike or if time is on our side, we can take you up higher into the rainforest. There are many places to wander, sit and listen. Over 90 bird species have been listed here if you enjoy bird watching and you can venture to the rock pool too. The host of this property co-founded "Boomerang Bags", a not for profit organisation to raise awareness of plastic pollution through community engagement. There are over 1200 communities globally diverting material from landfill and creating habits of reuse rather than single use. Therefore, drumroll....please bring reusable rather than single use plastics (e.g. beeswax wraps are provided instead of cling wrap, reusable containers rather than takeaway). We can compost food scraps and it would be much appreciated if you could take other waste and recyclables with you on departure. We would be very happy to show you how to make a boomerang bag for keeps on the industrial sewing machines. Just let us know if you would like to try your hand and create a momento and useful shopping bag as part of the Jandarra experience. The nearest shops for groceries are in Burleigh Heads, approximately 15 - 20 mins drive from Jandarra.
