The cottage has a gated entrance with private off-road parking for a number of vehicles at the front of the property. There is a bistro patio area leading off the dining room where you can enjoy coffee or glass of wine and a separate lawn and patio area with furniture and barbecue at the rear of the property. Willington Hall Cottage has easy access to Durham and the University to visit family members. The cottage provides the perfect base to explore the beautiful countryside with its numerous walkways popular with walkers and cyclists alike and the outstanding natural, cultural and heritage sites the region has to offer. The cottage has a gated entrance with private off-road parking for a number of vehicles at the front of the property. There are good public transport links with a regular bus service. We can greet and welcome guests on arrival to hand over keys, answer any questions and offer any information. Alternatively, we can leave the key in the keysafe at the cottage for guests on their arrival - whichever is preferable. We are contactable and available during the guests stay if required. On the door step there is the breath-taking scenery of the Durham Dales, 2,000 hectares of woodland to explore at Hamsterly forest, visit High Force one of the country's most spectacular waterfalls, the heritage coastline with its beaches, rugged cliffs and imposing headland and Durham City, home of the iconic Durham Cathedral and Castle World Heritage Site. In addition to the outstanding local attractions and places of interest, Willington Hall Cottage is an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding areas of Northumberland, Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland and the Tees Valley which collectively offer a unique combination of tranquil countryside and vibrant city life, historical sites and modern culture. The Cottage is in a village location with easy access to the open country side approx. 6 miles from the historic city of Durham, thereby providing an excellent base for you to explore the many local attractions and/or visit family or friends at Durham University. There is a regular bus service with access to good road and rail networks. There are walks and cycle paths in the area with local shops and amenities.
