Situated in a small, quiet village, this bright double room with original oak beams has its own large private shower room and facility to make tea & coffee. (Breakfast is not included). Great stop over place if travelling North or South. Bordering the Champagne trail, the town of Chaource (famous for its cheese) is 5kms away, but we are also close to Bourgogne. Troyes is 26kms with a great city centre. Biker friendly and room for tents in the garden! The barn house is in a courtyard and was one of the outbuildings of an old demolished Châteaux. The room available is situated on the first floor of the house and the bedroom does not face the road, so it is a quiet space. There are old beams in the room, as throughout the upper floor. Towels and linen are provided as are tea and coffee making facilities in the room. In Chaource you will find shops, bars and restaurants. Although the village of Praslin doesn't have any retail outlets it is nevertheless a peaceful, farming village in the heart of the countryside with lovely walks and views. The garden is large with fruit trees and an old well. Plenty of wildlife surrounds the barn. The busy main city of Troyes is about 26 km away, where you can find many shops, restaurants and bars and a train station, with frequent trains to Paris (only 1 hr 40 mins away). There is lots to see around the area of this Champagne region, with wine tasting, villages of character and lots of fresh air! As the room is within my house, you can access your room by entering through the back door and using the communal stairs. When you arrive, the parking is to the rear of the property so drive past the front of the house and enter through the opening in the wall where you can park. The garden area is at your disposal. There is an independent apartment attached to the house which could be used if you where are more than two guests, with its own kitchen. This place is also advertised on the Airbnb website and bookable via the site (Charming converted barn apartment). I can help you during your stay, letting you know local information about shops, opening times, local holidays, markets etc. If there is something particular you need and find difficulty getting it, I may be able to help. But, of course you need your space, so I will always let you decide if you need my input. This small, farming village has only 65 inhabitants and is therefore ideal for a quiet, slow paced holiday. The nearest town is Chaource, which has it's own cheese factory, offers a couple of local, French style restaurants (one that does pizza) and a Bar Tabac - the only place you can buy tobacco. The local Hotel also has a restaurant which is open to the public. There is a magnificent church in Chaource, dating back to (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) with a crypt and there is also a market place, where the market is held every Monday. Also, the town has a well stocked supermarket called Atac (opening hours 9-12, (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) closed Sundays) plus there are other local amenities, Pharmacy, Banks, Post Office, Police, Convenience store etc. Just a little way out of Chaource, the Châteaux Cordeliere hosts a lovely golf course (apparently the best in the region) open to non members and also a Restaurant and Bar, open daily. An equestrian centre is close by in Lagesse (Ferme Equestre de Lagesse) which offers private lessons. There is also an adventure park within a few kilometres near Lantages and surrounding lakes and forests of the Foret D'Orient. There are places to swim in the lakes and rivers in this area, where canoeing is also available. The villages of Chappes and Fougeres also offer swimming opportunities. We are situated in part of the country which is famous for it's champagne, in the Aube region of Champagne-Ardennes. However, the wines of the area are also exceptional. We are not far from the Bourgogne region, which has delightful reds and whites, not to mention lovely towns and charming villages. Of course, since we are in the Champagne region, don't forget to explore the area and do some tasting. The villages of Les Riceys host many champagne growers and the Rout de Champagne takes you through many picturesque spots. About 40 km away lies the very pretty town of Chablis, famous for it's white wine and there is a Sunday morning market there. Troyes is the largest town, about 25km away and boasts timbered buildings, a magnificent Cathedral and plenty of shops, including designer outlets, one on the main road to Troyes called Marques Avenue and another called Mcarthurglen on the north side of the town. Further afield there are lovely towns to visit, Tonnerre, Auxerre, Bar-sur Seine, Chatillon and many other villages situated along the Seine, which runs through the area. Lots of markets on different days and great 'Vide Grenier' (empty attics) markets on Sundays - just like British car boot sales (but far better) or garage sales. Plenty of bargain (Website hidden by Airbnb) All in all, plenty to see if lazing about isn't your scene. Travelling by car is the easiest way to explore. Of course cycling is an alternative, but for for those of you who bring your bicycles, there are some lovely rides. For you bikers, there are some exceptional roads around and there are many bikers who come to the area for just that. Public transport by bus is negligible, but at the station in Troyes you have an easy ride to Paris, just approx 1h 30 mins to the centre and the trains go to other destinations : Dijon, Romilly sur Seine and Saint Florentin You will need transport, preferably a car or motorbike. The nearest town (Chaource) and its shops is about 5 km away. There are no shops in Praslin. If you are planning on flying or are coming by train, it is advisable to rent a car at the nearest train station at Troyes. Bus service is practically non-existent and taxis can be pricey. It is also important to note that mobile phone reception is poor at the house, but it is always possible to make a call using the house wi-fi over Viber or Messenger or (Hidden by Airbnb) etc. Please note: You are using these premises at you own risk and should therefore have your own travel/accident insurance. The owner cannot take responsibility for lost or stolen items you may choose to leave on the premises. Parking in the garden is done so at your own risk. To improve on security, the garden gates should be shut at night. Thanks.
