Villa Maggona

An award winning property, Villa Maggona is a hidden gem located just over an hour away from Colombo. We cater to a discerning clientèle who cherish their privacy and want to get away from it all. The interior is designed and decorated with love and care. Our ethos is one of earthiness and artisanship. With this in mind we created a beautifully lush garden with tall, swaying palm trees and a pool in the midst. The common lounge and all bedrooms open onto a veranda that faces the garden. The Villa has 4 spacious ensuite bedrooms, a large common lounge and a glassed dining pavilion. All rooms are sea facing, opening onto a veranda and offering an amazing view of the pool and garden. Just beyond the garden is the beach. Meals are served in the dining pavilion or by the poolside. On clear evenings, we can set up a barbecue in the garden. You will be able to select your meals from set menus for the following day. We can schedule massages and yoga sessions on request. Transport can also be arranged at an additional cost. We have a collection of books and board games for you to enjoy. We also provide sarongs and flip flops for your beach use. This listing is for the whole villa. They try to anticipate your every need but are more than happy to oblige if there's something extra that you may require. They are fond of children and will gladly entertain them while you enjoy your dinner. There is a semi secluded beach just beyond the gated fence at the edge of the garden. Heritage sites and the famous Beruwela gem market are a short drive away. As is the Bentota lagoon where you will find a full range of water sports. A day trip to Galle which is just an hour away should be a must in your itinerary. There, you can visit the heritage sites, have a meal at any of the lovely cafes and restaurants and get in a bit of shopping. On the way to Galle you can stop and visit the moonstone mine and the cinnamon groves. There are several gem shops too on the way. Another attraction not far from the Villa which is worth a visit is the turtle sanctuary. The area boasts of several properties designed by Geoffrey Bawa, Sri Lanka's most renowned architect. Among them is his beautiful country estate Lunuganga which is open to visitors. Up the road from the Villa is a small town with local produce, ayurvedic shops, general stores and supermarkets. A short distance away are some hotels with restaurants that welcome outside guests. We can organise transport (car or van) for you. However, if you're inclined towards being more adventurous, you could take a train ride to Galle or even a tuk tuk to explore the area. We'd be happy to arrange it for you.
