Our lovely old farmhouse is situated in the Vale of Avalon surrounded by apple orchards & gardens. Why not spend your evening watching the sunset from the pool or playing croquet as the BBQ sizzles nearby. The house has wood burners in the sitting room & dining room. Electric Aga keeps the kitchen/breakfast room a warm & welcoming space to gather in whatever the season. Outdoor Swimming pool + grass tennis & badminton courts. Our wonderful farmhouse was built in the 16th from the stones of Glastonbury Abbey. The elm beamed sitting room has an inglenook fireplace and wood burner. The farmhouse kitchen overlooks the gardens and croquet lawn and BBQ. In the grounds is the swimming pool, tennis & badminton courts We have 5 double bedrooms, bathroom with shower, bedroom with sink & WC along with shower room - we are the only property within a 90 mile radius that includes accommodation for an elderly person with a shower room and double bedroom on the ground floor. Our horses live in the paddocks along with the sheep & lambs. Closer by are the friendly chickens who will call by during the day! In the garden we have a 30'x15'x4' outdoor pool ( June - August/ September but check for earlier availability). Note, the swimming pool is not fenced. You have full access to the grounds but be mindful of the horses that are stabled nearby. There is plenty of parking outside. Glastonbury and Street is 10 minutes by car, approximately 45 minute walk. Other popular places that our guests have visited - Wells (20 mins drive), Bath (45 mins), Lyme Regis (45 mins), Cheddar Gorge (40 mins). The local pub, The Lion is a 20/30 minute walk. We can also provide you with a list of other nearby pubs and restaurants. We have a list of local taxi companies . Glastonbury is approximately 4 miles with a wonderful selection of alternative shops, restaurants etc. Street with its shopping outlet is 5 miles from the house. Baltonsborough has a farm shop & Post Office and a village pub.along pub, all within walking distance. There are several footpaths in the area with a picturesque walks across the Levels to the Tor and Chalice Well in Glastonbury. Castle Carey railway station is about a 25 minute drive from us Glastonbury Festival site (Bronze Gate/Hospitality drop off point) - 5 minute drive ( 2.5 miles). Street & Glastonbury - 5- 10 minute drive The outdoor swimming pool is available between June - Sept (but check prior to your booking as it may be available sooner). For your safety please do not dive/jump in as it's only 4' deep. Please bring your own swimming towels. We have steamer chairs and sun loungers as well as a hammock for your use. We have a grass tennis court and badminton court. Please note that neither court is professionally laid out and the surface is uneven but fun to play on. We also have membership of a local all weather tennis court at Keinton Mandeville Tennis Club - 10 minute drive. You are welcome to use it but to guarantee a time slot, it should be booked in advance. There is also a croquet lawn. We always try to have someone available to welcome you on your arrival or help you with anything that you might need. We work hard to ensure that our guests privacy is respected during your stay whilst ensuring that the swimming pool and grounds are maintained to the highest standard. Yoga sessions are available during your stay but please enquire before booking. Don't forget your travel insurance.
