The Big House

The Big House is an original farmhouse in the hills overlooking the Clevedon valley. it was built in the 80’s. A sturdy brick home with the bricks originally from the Newmarket railroad crossroads. The kitchen is still the original french country style with a butchers block and a lovely sunny aspect. A very spacious living room with another dining table and open fire is a great chill zone. Four bedrooms with comfortable beds and pull out additions when the numbers are over eight. This provides you with the ability to enjoy this home with extended family or friends. All around the home are sweeping rural views capturing the sun at the different times throughout the day from sunrise to sundown. Enjoy a morning cuppa in the kitchen herb garden, which we welcome you to help yourself to the seasonal herbs and vegetables available in the garden. We are avid organic gardeners so you are getting the best quality home produce. This is a working farm so at times expect a motorbike, a ride-on lawn mower or a tractor keeping up with the property maintenance. You are bound to see ducks flying between the many ponds, tuis feasting on the flowering bottlebrushes, pheasants in the paddocks that move between the beautiful native plantings. Sometimes there will be stock (cattle) in the paddocks, the three friendly pet sheep “ Chief Louie, Ellie and Milky Way”. Paparazzi is a retired polo pony and is also partial to carrot or an apple. We welcome you to take a farm walk around the property, you may find the secret bridge at the bottom pond it is worth the stroll, always, leave the gates as you find them. The family cat Lego may surprise you with a trophy mouse that he keeps at bay around the property and this is all part of the farming environment we love and the life we live. This is not a hotel, this is our home that we share with you so you can experience a stay on a small farm that has impeccable views, privacy and comforts that will make your stay memorable. There is a BBQ, outdoor table and chairs, and great area for alfresco entertaining. An above ground swimming pool is available to the kids or enthusiastic adults who need a dip. It is such a nice experience that we want you all to have the chance to enjoy it. We know that this property is a country gem that is also very price competitive in this area.
