Barrierefreies typisches Bauernhaus in Portugal

You will find our holiday home in Lobão da Beira, a municipality in the Portuguese district of Tondela, close to the forest and surrounded by vineyards. The old traditional farmhouse was built from solid granite blocks and rebuilt by us from an ecological point of view. The eight solar panels produce hot water for the kitchen and bathroom and provide enough heat to run the underfloor heating in winter. Rainwater is collected in a cistern and used to water the garden in summer. The old olive grove was partially rejuvenated and supplemented by the planting of 100 young olive trees. The 2000 square meter property is completely fenced and therefore "children - and pets" safe. Particular attention was paid to the wheelchair-accessible facility during the renovation. The entire house has no thresholds and is laid out with terracotta tiles. The extra-wide doors make it easy for guests in wheelchairs to move around the house. The bedroom has 2 raised and moveable beds (90 x 200), which allow the room to be individually designed and thus plenty of space to move. The bathroom has a height-adjustable sink, a toilet / bidet and a barrier-free shower. The grab handles and the shower seat allow the guest with restricted mobility to be independent in daily hygiene. The kitchen is fully equipped with stove, oven with grill, dishwasher, fridge and freezer, and small electrical appliances, the walls are decorated with the typical Portuguese wall tiles. The pink granite countertop was crafted by local artisans from the neighboring village. At the white dining table, guests can enjoy their meals in comfortable wicker chairs. In the living area there is a sofa bed (140cm x 200cm) on which two guests can sleep comfortably. Of course there is also satellite TV and a small stereo system. In front of the house is the 120 square meter terrace, which consists of a huge flat granite rock and large granite slabs. Maize used to be threshed there. Here guests can have breakfast, sunbathe, or end the evening with a glass of red wine while barbecuing. If desired, a paddling pool can also be set up here for the children. Next to an old walnut tree (under which guests can enjoy the shade) is the garage, which also houses the washing machine. The terrace is framed by old and young olive trees, some orange, lemon and grapefruit trees, a laurel hedge, cacti and other native plants. A herb bed invites you to harvest. Vineyards and forest start right outside the front door and down to the river it is 20 minute walk. The entire facility is wheelchair accessible.
