We enjoy many activities that the area has to offer: walking, cycling, riding and looking after sheep, cattle and pigs. We only live three minutes walk from the cottage, so we are always on hand to help; from a cup of sugar to recommending the best pubs! Chalford Hill is an old weavers village which sits on top of the Golden Valley, famous for its woollen mills. In fact the cottage name 'Bunch of Nuts' is in fact an old weavers knot. The mills were the only producers of the Red Army uniform , green baize for billiard tables and the covering for tennis balls. There are a couple of excellent pubs and a well stocked community run shop. The area surrounding the cottage was recently named by Lonely Planet as 'One of Europes best kept secrets'...and we agree! The beautiful 5 valleys (AONB) meet nearby with Rodborough, Minchinhampton and Selsey Commom topping each valley . With magnificent views, skylarks and roaming cattle you will have real escapism! The south Cotswolds was the home to Laurie Lee, just a few miles from the cottage you can discover a variety of walks and finish off with a pint in the Woolpack. Also visit the bussling Stroud farmers market held every saturday. There is a shared front path that leads another three cottages.
