Bunch of Nuts Cottage is a cosy weavers cottage in the heart of Chalford Hill. The original cottage was built in 1790. Recently decorated (please note that old photos are shown of the exterior) there is a large open plan kitchen, cosy sitting room, two bedrooms and brand new bathroom. A small cottage garden with a patio where you can sit and take in the view of the Cotswolds. The cottage has recently been decorated, the new bathroom has a bath and shower with constant hot water, perfect for soaking after a day walking the Cotswold Way! The cottage has central heating and an instant fire, helping you to relax and get cosy during the colder months. We will endevour to make your stay a comfortable one with fresh linen, towels and fresh milk, tea and coffee. We have two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with a king size bed. The larger bed can be split into two singles for families or friends..please ask on booking if you would prefer the single beds. We welcome one well behaved dog at no extra charge, but ask that it remains downstairs. You will access the whole of the cottage We are a busy family of five and have lived in Chalford Hill for 20 years. We enjoy many activities that the area has to offer: walking, cycling, riding and looking after sheep, cattle and pigs. We only live three minutes walk from the cottage, so we are always on hand to help; from a cup of sugar to recommending the best pubs! Chalford Hill is an old weavers village which sits on top of the Golden Valley, famous for its woollen mills. In fact the cottage name 'Bunch of Nuts' is in fact an old weavers knot. The mills were the only producers of the Red Army uniform , green baize for billiard tables and the covering for tennis balls. There are a couple of excellent pubs and a well stocked community run shop. The area surrounding the cottage was recently named by Lonely Planet as 'One of Europes best kept secrets'...and we agree! The beautiful 5 valleys (AONB) meet nearby with Rodborough, Minchinhampton and Selsey Commom topping each valley . With magnificent views, skylarks and roaming cattle you will have real escapism! The south Cotswolds was the home to Laurie Lee, just a few miles from the cottage you can discover a variety of walks and finish off with a pint in the Woolpack. Also visit the bussling Stroud farmers market held every saturday. There is a shared front path that leads another three cottages.
