Unique 1920's Montalivet house sleeping 16
This boho-chic 1920's wooden seaside villa, retaining all its original features is only a short 4 minute walk to sandy beaches. A huge everyday market selling everything from rotisserie chickens to panama hats is a 3 minute stroll away. Children will love the pedestrianised high street for skateboarding and rollerblading. Surfers will love the waves. Despite being right in the centre of town, with 30 restaurants within walking distance, it is quiet and private. Wifi throughout house. The Beachouse has been popular with film companies, fashion shoots and two cookery television series have been filmed there. It has featured in countless magazines becase of its unique authentic 1930's Beachouse style with antiques, vintage fabrics and old fashioned kitchens. I have avoided plastic wherever possible without compromising the comfort of large Smeg fridges, comfortable beds and all mod cons. The house works brilliantly for large groups as there are 3 flats which link together along the verandah at the front so family members or groups of friends can enjoy a degree of privacy if so desired. There are 3 kitchenettes and 3 bathrooms and family members can withdraw and reappear as they wish for lovely communal candlelit suppers on the verandah. Out of high season (school holidays) it can be divided into two units one sleeping 4 ideal for young families and the other sleeping 10 to 12 perfect for two families sharing. The house is perfect for family celebrations and reunions as all age groups are catered for with toddlers playing in the sand garden with paddling pool and teenagers playing table tennis at the back or exploring Montalivet market and the surf shops or skateboarding down the pedestrianised high street to have a surf lesson on the beach. Supervised swimming between two blue flags on the beach keeps everyone safe. Adults will enjoy the winetasting and oysters and champagne in the market where every kind of delicious food takeaway is available for those who want a break from cooking Aldi supermarket is a 5 minutes walk for basic shopping. Bordeaux is a 1 and a half hour bus ride away from the sea front for some serious shopping and sight seeing. Guests have access to front and back gardens, The garden is fenced so is safe for dogs and children. The sunny verandah is southfacing and perfect for eating outside although there is a long table inside and two woodburning pellet stoves for chilly evenings. Small children are well catered for with high chairs cots, camping cots toys and paddling pool. They 're safe in an enclosed garden with gates that lock. It is quite safe to park your car outside the house but I can offer off street parking if it is important. There are plenty of bike hire places in Montalivet and kilometres of easy cycle tracks everywhere to explore the area. The little oyster ports along the Gironde estuary make a change from the beach and there are some nice restaurants to sample as well as famous chateaux to visit.
