You're also welcome to explore our larger 7-acre garden which opens for the Scottish Garden Scheme. This includes a private woodland, a rambling burn (stream) orchard, vegetable garden and long lawns with landscaped gardens that include a grass labyrinth and a summer wildflower meadow! We're here to help you have a great time and are usually available during the day and evening for any help/advice needed, just ask for any help oradvice you need! Quiet and peaceful rural location, within easy distance to the Highlands and to Glasgow city centre, so you can enjoy the beautiful Scottish scenery as well as the great shopping and nightlife of Glasgow. The Byre is equidistant (about 2 miles to each) between the charming local villages of Houston, Kilmacolm and Bridge of Weir. 10 minutes to Bishopton and Port Glasgow. Plenty of free parking outside The Byre. The nearest train stations (Bishopton and Johnstone) are each about a 10 minute drive away. There are several good local taxi services, and regular trains from Johnstone or Bishopton to Glasgow Central in 15 - 20 minutes. 2 pubs within walking distance (about 30 minutes). 30 minute drive from the Scottish Exhibition Centre (SEC). COVID-19: As well as being self-contained, we are following AirBnB's stringent Covid-19 cleaning guidance to ensure your stay is safe and clean as well as totally relaxing! This is a rural location, very peaceful but with a long driveway not suitable for low slung cars. Plenty of free parking. Glasgow Centre is an easy 15 minutes by train or 30 minutes by car. There are lots of great walks available nearby. The Erskine Bridge, Gateway to the Highlands, is just a 15 minute drive away, as is the nearest train station and Glasgow International Airport. Ingliston Equestrian centre is a 5 minute drive away. There are several supermarkets within a short driving distance, and a good selection of local pubs and restaurants, some within reasonable (30 minutes) walking distance. In the Byre you'll find an extensive selection of brochures with local tourist information, and we are always happy to help with a bit of local knowledge! Well-behaved dogs are very welcome! We kindly ask though that you ensure they do not go on the furniture, that they are not left unattended in the Byre, and if your dog is going to be in season that you let us know. We have four very friendly (male) dogs of our own- and they're always very keen to come and say hello!
