Quinta das Maçãs

Quinta das Maçãs, formerly a family home, now functions as a local accommodation in this friendly, historical and hospitable village of Maçãs de Dona Maria, in Alvaiázere where national and foreign tourists are, for many time, very welcome. Quinta das Maçãs is an old farmhouse, restored in 2005, which has a breathtaking panoramic view over the garden and mountains. On the outdoor terrace, of 200 m2, there's a barbecue, garden furniture, parking, swimming pool. Part of it lawned with olive and fruit trees. The 1st floor has 4 bedrooms, 3 double and 1 single bedroom, 2 bathrooms with shower, dining room, living room and 1 large kitchen / dining room with fireplace. The kitchen is fully equipped with appliances: dishwasher, refrigerator, stove with oven, microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee maker and iron. Finally, on the rest floor there is a beautiful hall for cultural events, festive or regional product shows, group lunches or dinners, birthday parties, weddings, baptisms. The entire space surrounding the house is reserved only for guests. Since we live about 15 minutes (by car) from the farmhouse, whenever necessary we will be available. The house is in the center of the village on Rua do Fonte do Pereiro where there are 3 cafes which offer pastry services, butchers and take-way. There's also a pharmacy, an ATM. Plus, every Sunday there is a market where farmers sell fresh fruits and vegetables. Here there are fairs and festivals typical of Portuguese lands where there is an extensive list of gastronomic specialties and good wines. In the surrounding area there are pastoral gorges, deep valleys with waterfalls and miles of trails that offer breathtaking scenery, every walk and exploration. In this area, there are also several river beaches such as: Praia das Rocas, D. Ana de Avis, Foz d 'Alge, Green Lake, Mosteiro, Dornes and Fragas de S. Simão! Within a radius of 20 km there are also historical landmarks such as the Roman ruins of Conímbriga, Penela Castle, Pombal Castle, Castle of the Condes de Castelo Melhor, Serra do Anjo da Guarda and Senhora de Covões and Aldeia do Xisto . Maçãs de D. Maria is close to 3 beautiful cities: 40 km Coimbra, with its famous university town, Tomar with the convent of Christ and Leiria with its beautiful castle.
