The Old Gallery - An Eden Valley Barn Conversion
The Old Gallery is a stunning two bedroom barn conversion in the heart of Kirkby Stephen but in a tucked away and quiet location. With secure parking for two cars and spacious but homely living areas a warm welcome awaits you and your four legged companions! Breathtaking walks from the doorstep and your perfectly located for exploring the Yorkshire and Westmorland Dales, Lakes, North Pennines and beyond. As soon as you enter you’ll be amazed by the space and character. The entrance hall has a boot area large enough to store bikes. Off this you’ll find the separate W.C. The Old Gallery boasts a log burning stove and a 43” Smart TV in the lounge area of the living kitchen. We include a supply of logs and kindling to get you started, alongside our very generous welcome hamper. We’ve fitted out this very spacious room with everything you will need for a self catering break and it’s a great space for friends and family to get together. Through the kitchen you’ll find the quirky shower room with electric shower, sink, w.c, shaving point and heated towel rail. Climb the open staircase and admire the exposed stonework and artworks. At the top of the stairs a door leads you to the first of our well equipped double bedrooms. With locally crafted fittings, beamed ceiling and exposed stone work. It’ll be a restful nights sleep in our sumptuous high quality linens. The spacious master suite is an amazing space, with huge ceilings, beams and exposed stone walls. Roof lights and arrow slit windows help flood this room with natural light. The suite contains a sumptuous four poster bed and bedroom area. This area is cleverly combined with a cosy seating area with SkyQ, 42inch TV and a surround sound home cinema system. With a good selection of books, dvds, family games and puzzles there’s plenty for everyone to do if you fancy staying indoors. This room is extremely versatile and can be used as both lounge and bedroom or a combination of both to meet your requirements. Step outside into the courtyard where there is ample off-road parking for two vehicles and plenty of space remaining to sit and enjoy a glass of your favourite tipple. If you’re really lucky you might even get to see the famous Kirkby Stephen Parrots (we kid you not!). As we live close by, we delight in meeting our guests when they arrive and can be at hand for all your enquires. Alternatively there is a key safe if you prefer to let yourselves in and work things out for yourselves. Kirkby Stephen has much to offer, nestled in the unspoilt splendour of the Upper Eden Valley and directly on the Coast to Coast and W2W route. There are some stunning local walks, great cycling, fishing, local golf course (Ravenstonedale) lovely independent shops, galleries and architecture. After a busy day indulging in your favourite pastime, why not treat yourself to a meal in one of the great pubs, restaurants or cafes within the town? Kirkby Stephen was one of the first towns to get Walkers are Welcome status and many pubs and cafes are dog friendly. Superbly located, The opportunity to visit the Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors, The Lake District, North Pennines and Yorkshire coastline are all within an easy driving distance. Kirkby Stephen is easily reached by car through glorious countryside and quiet roads from the A1, A66 & M6 Situated on the Settle to Carlisle railway line, voted one of the most picturesque train journeys in the UK, well worth the ticket price and a day out in Carlisle, Skipton, Settle or Leeds is highly recommended. You can jump on board one of the Cumbrian Classic Coaches and take a Heritage Route on a nostalgic journey through breathtaking scenery. The service runs all year. Please let us know at the time of booking if your dog/s will be accompanying you. We prepare the cottage differently when pets stay and leave a doggy welcome pack. We charge a small additional fee for up to 2 well behaved dogs £20 per dog per stay, payable locally (Please refer to our house rules regarding pets) Although the courtyard is secluded, access is shared by 3 other properties. The parking and seating area adjacent to the kitchen is solely for the use of The Old Gallery but there is no way to contain pets or leave them unsupervised. The Old Gallery is found through a stone archway between two cottages so access is limited for larger vehicles such as high sided vans and campers.
