The house of plums - ROOM 1

Ours is a manor house of the sixteenth century immersed in the new world reserve of the UNESCO biosphere of the Po river. We are a farm that uses the technique of permaculture that does not involve the use of any chemical fertilizer. All our products are natural. A quiet place to live a little relaxation surrounded by greenery and the past. During the stay it is possible to use our living areas, all furnished with antique furniture from Emilia. Our house is an ancient 16th century country villa located on the great river Po. This stretch where the river reaches its maximum width is characterized by a magnificent nature and is a 'UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve'. Therefore numerous animal species and a very rich flora can be observed. It is possible to do many walks, on foot or by bicycle, inside the reserve using the path that starts directly from our house. Our house fits into this context as a typical manor house for agricultural activities for many centuries. The recent restoration wanted to maintain the charm of the time and the original details of the house. All the furnishings are antique and come from the Emilia area. The plum house is also a farm and our gardens, orchard and garden in permaculture will give all guests the opportunity to spend hours of leisure reading, walking or resting under the large walnut trees. Even the animals of our guests, welcome, can relax together with the two dogs and the house cat. Guests have access to the entire living area, the large central entrance hall, the living room, the study / library as well as the dining room. Our bedrooms are large and all have air conditioning and a private bathroom. It is possible to make a visit, by appointment, to a cheese factory for the production of Parmesan cheese, to a vinegar factory to taste the old balsamic vinegar and to the local canina to discover Lambrusco. From our house you can easily reach Parma, Reggio Emilia, Mantua, Sabbioneta, the Polirone abbey, the Colorno palace.  Around Boretto and Brescello it is possible to go trekking on the Po river and discover the flavors of these lands. Just 20 minutes away is the new high-speed station in Reggio Emilia from which you can reach Florence in 1 hour, Milan in 34 minutes, Bologna in 20 and Rome in 2.20. The 'Terre di Canossa' A1 motorway exit is a quarter of an hour away by car Guests can use the house: living room, studio and lunchroom, garden and synergistic vegetable garden. We remind visitors that inside our house live with us two dogs and a cat that share both the external and internal areas with the exception of the bedrooms. For no reason our animals will be locked up, they are used to contact with people and other animals and are not aggressive. Furthermore, our B&B is open to our guests' pets so other animals may be present. During your stay we will give you all the information you need for your visits around. We have many brochures on art cities and monuments to visit. On request we take our guests in the train stations of Reggio Emilia, Modena, Parma or Mantua and take them back to the end of the stay. On request we accompany our guests without a car in the main places of tourist interest in our area. Our guests can freely access our large synergistic garden to understand the farming techniques we use and take a walk around. We are happy to bring interested guests with us to the main antique markets active in our region. Guests who love the kitchen can access our kitchen to assist in the preparation of typical dishes of the Emilian cuisine that we periodically prepare for ourselves.
