The Shepherds Secret, Breakfast included!*

The Shepherds Secret is a luxury shepherd hut for up to 2 people set on the beautiful Jurassic Coast only one mile from the sea, in a designated area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Hut is finished to the highest standard set in its own private ground with private garden, access and parking. The Hut has far reaching views of the surrounding countryside until the sun goes down. New in July this year is our little hut, a covered outdoor space to sit and enjoy the scenery whatever the weather. The cozy full sized double bed is made up for you on arrival with beautiful 100% cotton bed linen. When the bed is away there is an oak dining table with cushioned bench seats for you to relax on and enjoy a meal or a game of scrabble with a bottle of wine. To keep you warm on cooler evenings logs are supplied for the wood burner. Fluffy white towels and complementary toiletries are provided in the ensuite shower room, complete with vanity sink, plumbed toilet, heated towel rail with magnificent views across the Axe Valley. The kitchen area has a 2 ring induction hob with whistling kettle. You will also find Jamie Oliver Pans and utensils to cook with and a fridge under. Or if you prefer to cook Al Fresco there is a Weber BBQ outside, with far reaching views across the surrounding countryside and when the sun has set there is fire pit to keep you warm on chillier evenings. If you like to stargaze the two steamer chairs with blankets from the hut are ideal. *Provisions for your first mornings breakfast are provided, with free range eggs from our own hens, bacon and chipolatas from our local butcher in Colyford and bread from the bakers in Seaton or the bakery in Axmouth. Please state on booking if you are vegetarian and we will supply continental breakfast provisions instead. Tea, coffee, sugar and milk are also provided to help make your stay as welcoming as possible. The hut has it own garden space with a gravelled patio area with teak steamer chairs, a picnic bench, Indian fire bowl and Weber BBQ edged by lawn. The hut is accessed by a double five bar gate (which will be open for you on arrival) leading onto a track to the private parking area. Please note, if you have a 4x4 vehicle and are carrying bikes or luggage on the roof, please check the clearance, as the track has trees which you drive which come over the drive. From here there is a fairly level path about 60 metres long to the hut. There are 5 steps up to the front door. The bed is a pull down double bed, a little stool is provided to help get onto the bed. Being set within the grounds of our own property, but with its own private access, garden and parking the shepherd hut is very secluded but if for any reason you need assistance we are not too far away to help. The Shepherds Secret is situated within easy reach of nearby coastal towns, Lyme Regis and Sidmouth, just a few minutes drive or cycle to the mile long beach at Seaton, the mouth of the River Axe. the harbour and South West Coast Path. A few of the many local interests include River Cottage Canteen, Seaton Tramway, Colyford Nature Reserve, Seaton Jurassic and The Donkey Sanctuary Explore the Jurassic Coast on the Coastline X53 two hourly bus. Hire bicycles from Soanes cycles in Colyton. The Shepherd Secret has a small wardrobe with coat hangers and shelf above. Under each bench seat there is storage space. Please bear this in mind when packing, soft holdalls and rucksacks would be more suitable than suitcases.
