Comfortable Hills Studio

Beautifully appointed Studio type accommodation with over length queen size electric bed with massage cycle. All normal B&B facilities inc TV, Fridge, Air con, close to town centre and 30 mins from Adelaide CBD. Own bathroom, shared laundry... enjoy. Studio apartment is in a quiet hills location, a self contained part of a 50s' stone and brick residence, faithfully being renovated to retain that 50s' feel and surrounded by beautiful garden. A four year old Aussie Shepherd female dog (Betts) is always on hand to greet guests The Studio has it's own access and although previously listed as a 'Private room' consists of living, and a sleeping area and also its own bathroom....(no running into strangers in the hall heading to a communal bath/toilet) For comfort the Studio is fully air conditioned with a ceiling cassette split type air conditioning unit and a heated wall panel for totally silent heating through the night. There are limited kitchen facilities which incorporate a bench and cupboards, fridge, electric hotplate, Microwave, fry pan, toaster, electric kettle with all crockery, cutlery and pots and saucepans supplied, but we don't encourage full-on meal preparation in the Studio because we want it to smell ( and be) nice and fresh for incoming guests. There are full breakfast condiments available including tea (both black and green), coffee, toast and three different spreads. Three different cereals, milk, butter, ample fruit, eggs and bacon supplied.....and anything else to order. There is even a beer and a cider in the fridge at no charge. If major cooking is required guests are welcome to use the house kitchen. There is also a great, well lit, 4 burner hooded barbecue in the rear garden which all guests are welcome to use. There is a digital TV with USB, SD card and DVD facilities, an electric queen size bed which includes a massage function. In any accommodation, a good quality comfortable crispy clean bed is the most important thing!! An extra 12cm (5 inches) in length has been added into this bed to ensure great comfort for tall guests. The Lounge area is equipped with a Sofa/Bed to accommodate another adult or two children if required. We have on hand a Graco portacot with change table, for those travelling with infants, and a high chair to keep the toddlers corralled at feed time. There is also a good library of quality books for guests to relax with. Guests have the use of the residence rear garden with a choice of two outdoor settings and the house rules contain walking trails in the excellent parks and linear tracks in this area. The bathroom also contains a laundry facility for guests to use with supplied laundry powder and fabric softener. WiFi is available and recent connection to the NBN has meant reception inside the facility is good. We are happy to discuss anything which may help to improve the quality of the guest experience. Being a quiet suburban country town street parking out front is not an issue and free off-street parking is always if required. Guests have access to as much, or as little, intrusion from the hosts as they want. Obviously we are proud of our facility and want our guests to really enjoy their stay. We are always on hand should there be any problems to iron out. Mt Barker is a town of about 30,000 people located in the Adelaide hills, accessed by a free-way about half an hour from the centre of Adelaide. This location is ideal for guests coming from the eastern states who don't wish to tackle the traffic of Adelaide at the end of a days drive. Being a smaller community the atmosphere is much friendlier than the larger population centres. All facilities are here including all main banks and supermarket chains, Harvey Norman, Spotlight, K Mart, BCF, Government departments inc 'Centrelink' and numerous speciality shops, cafes and restaurants plus the heritage listed Auchendarroch function centre and Wallis multi screen cinema complex. Mt Barker is also home to 'Steamranger'....the steam railway preservation society with currently 4 steam locomotives, carriages and a dozen diesel locomotives and railcars. Regular full day steam rail trips are offered from Mt Barker to the Fluerieu Peninsular (climate permitting). Being a cool climate wine producing area many vineyards are within a few Kms of Mt Barker all offering tastings and some with restaurant facilities. The famous German hills tourist town of Hahndorf is 5 Kms from Mt Barker There is an excellent bus service from Mt Barker to the centre of Adelaide with services leaving every half hour throughout most of the day. Both of the major bus stations in the town feature a 'Park n Ride' facility with parking for plenty of vehicles and good disabled access both for cars and buses. There is a good bus service from the airport to Mt Barker with one change of bus along the way or, for no hassles and a moderate fee, a personal pick-up and drop-off can be arranged for our guests. Mt Barker, being situated in a 'bowl' in the surrounding hills has a very tranquil environment. We rarely see the massive heat of the plains and it is never cold enough to snow.The town appears to be less affected by any wind than many other areas. Generally once the sun sets any breeze drops to zero. Our accommodation borders a large park with a lake and many kilometres of walking or cycling trails. With regard to my pricing, I do offer a discount of 10% for stays of 7 nights or more, but this discount will be in the form of a refund at the conclusion of the stay. I have had to take this action to cover long term stays being reduced to less than 7 night stays which have been paid at the discount rate. The discount will still be there, but at the end of the stay, not the start.
