Nestled between the east- The valley of the Aar and the western part of Ems- and Wörsbach is a massive rock formation, crowned by a tower which, as the remains of a former Burgenlage, as well as the ruins of the former Ringmauer, reveal the original form of an extensive medieval fortification. At the place where the counts of Gerhard von Dietz and Johann von Nassau-Merenberg erected the castle in 1355, One of the first Christian churches in the region. With the construction of the castle the place was expanded by the one- Who moved from Bubenheim and Sinderbach, surrounded with walls and towers, and raised to a town. How long the castle existed, is not exactly known. To their Burgmännner belonged the von Bubenheim, that of Reiffenberg, of Heppenheft, of Heiden, of Bergen, of Ried and of Stein. The monasteries of Gnadenthal and Erbach were here. Built in 1355, today's church is one of the oldest in Nassau. The last catholic priest resigned his office in 1525, after 1530 the Reformation moved into Kirberg. The first Kirberger school was also a child of the Reformation period. The Leonhardsaltarhaus, located in the garden of the later pharmacy, served as a schoolhouse. In the year 1594 the official correspondence for the first time was marked as "Flecken Kirberg", at the latest Kirberg had no city status anymore. Even during the Middle Ages, Kirberg had a brisk passage, even if it had no market of its own. Kirberg was a safe place for the merchants with their carloads, Economic products. The two main towers of the upper and lower gates served as guardians, and at the same time a toll collection. After fires in the Thirty Years' War had Three fires, the last in 1710, Heerend out. In 1711, the town was rebuilt, keeping the plan from the time of the founding of the city - three parallel main roads in a rectangle. The houses from that time, with free standing steps, gables and high roofs, still characterize the townscape. As a result of the fire disasters of 1796 and 1850, the old village wall was dismantled in the west, The population required the construction of a fourth parallel road, the Neugasse (today part of the Limburger Straße). In 1806 Kirberg was incorporated into the newly founded Duchy of Nassau. As the seat of an office, Kirberg remained a few years, was then united with Limburg and remained connected with the district town of Limburg even after the integration of the duchy into the Prussian state. Although the number of inhabitants increased by half by the middle of the 19th century, (Around 1400 inhabitants around 1860), Kirberg remained as a commercial center, but due to its location on the connecting road between Kirberg and Wiesbaden (B417 "Hünerstraße"), Kirberg remained a new importance. 1955, when the "patch Kirberg" on the city found 600 years ago back- , Declining population figures were recorded. Many young farmers turned to the handicrafts or found a new existence in the cities of the Rhine-Main region. Today the development is rather the reverse: many who live or work in the Frankfurt area are looking for a quiet place to live in Kirberg. Together with Dauborn, Heringen, Neesbach, Mensfelden, Nauheim and Ehren, Kirberg voluntarily joined the large community of Hünfelden in 1971, whose administrative seat is in Kirberg. In 2005 the 650th anniversary of "Amt und Flecken Kirberg" was celebrated with the help of the population and the local associations. On two days, the festival was celebrated with a historical market, and more events were held throughout the year. Kirberg encircles magnificent nature like large beech forests.
