We love showing visitors around so if you would like to see more of the farm you can book a farm experience via our website. Choose between: Farm experience morning / evening: Join our experienced farm staff for our morning or evening daily farm duties. We are a simple rural escape for folks wanting to get away from it all and live uninterrupted, enjoy your own/ each others company and take in some beautiful English countryside. NEARBY AREA We are spoilt for amazing restaurants, pubs, eateries, cafes and take aways in the villages around the farm. There are 5 within a beautiful medium-length walk from the farm along beautiful lanes and across stunning moorland if you'd like to go for a scenic walk and enjoy a meal in the nearby area. *Don't forget to bring your welly boots!* Due to the terrain in the woodland and the lack of made paths to the yurt this is not a suitable venue for those who struggle with mobility. If you still want to stay at the farm check out The Old Farm Office which is wheelchair friendly. The path to the yurt is steep and can have very muddy slippery patches in rainy weather meaning there is a high risk of slipping and falling. Sturdy wellies with good grips are a must, as is good physical mobility and fitness in order to get to this tucked away secret escape. The farm is remote however it's easy to get here. We're 10 minutes from the M66 motorway, 25 minutes from the M6/M65 and 25 minutes walk from the nearest bus stop. The bus goes to Manchester along the motorway. It's easy to spend a day in the city travelling in by bus, or stay in our village which has tonnes of eateries and attractions. Once guests have booked they will be able to access specific directions to the yurt from the main road and our check in guide which details the specifics of where everything is. There will always be someone about on the farm to ask any questions you might have. My elderly retired farming parents live at the farm so with covid in mind - please do not attempt to find us/ knock on at the farm house as they are shielding. Give us a call and we will answer questions/come and meet you to resolve any queries. No question too small - we want you to have a fabulous time so do contact us any time, day or night if you need help with anything. We will rock up with a mask on if we need to come in your accomodation to help you for whatever reason. WALKS: There are tonnes of amazing walks straight from the farm. Short 1-2 mile strolls round the valley bottom and local village or longer hikes round the West Pennine Moors including trails to Pilgrims Cross, Peel Tower, Ellen Strange's grave, Grane Reservoirs, Tor Hill and the Halo sculpture. Expect single track trails graded blue to double black steep climbs, descents and some fun rock garden and table top play areas. Stubby Lee Park has a fab pump track near the quarry. Under an hours drive from the farm you can find Gisburn bike hub (great family beginner trails and separate more technical trails (used as part of the annual PMBA race series) for more advanced riders. If you're into DH head over to Havock bike park. FARMING: See activities listed in 'The space' section. We are just 30 minute drive from Pendle hill, a hour away from the forest of Bowland and an hour and a half drive away from those wanting to explore the lake district. We're a 5 minute walk from the bridleway on Moor 'road' and a 25 minute walk from the nearest bus stop, which goes into Manchester city centre near the train stations. We're easy to get to, but still pretty remote and very quite. *Your manual labour is required* This yurt has no mains electricity and no heating other than the fire. We want to gently highlight this to guests who have not lived in this way before - it means you have to be proactive about keeping the fire filled with logs if it's cold, or it will go out and you will be chilly. The kitchenette and loo are a 2 minute walk away through 2 gates and if you use all the stored water in the yurt and want more you will have to refill it from the drinking water tap in the yard. These things mean you have to walk about the farm to the kitchenette and the loo and to buy more wood if you're here for a long stay. . This sort of work is part of living simply and cannot be avoided. If the idea of being proactive in this way is not for you, we do have a shepherds hut with electric lights and electric heating which is also listed on airbnb if you really want to do nothing at all. FARM PRODUCE We have eggs, lamb, goat meat and veg for sale from the farm. If you would like to buy any just message before hand to see what we have in season that's ready to eat. Eggs are £2 for 6. Goat mince £5.99 for 500g. lamb chops £5 for 6 chops.
