Quiet room located on the front of the home overlooking main street! You are located in walking distance to the beautiful River park and promenade and local cafes, restaurants and shops. All of our rooms have shared access to the full kitchen, family room and dining room area and sun porch. We have on-street parking and wifi is great for remote workers. There are 20+ wineries in the area and are perfect escape for a day trip! This is 1 of 5 rooms in the home The guests have access to the yard and back yard areas to enjoy for there stay. We love to greet each of guests and welcome them to get acquainted with our home. The hosts are available throughout the day when not on-site via phone/text. We want every guest to feel comfortable, and part of the comfort is having local hosts that can help answer your questions. The home sits on Main Street in quaint downtown in the historic district of town. We are located less than a block from the beautiful Willamette River with walking trails abound. We are as close to the river as we are to the train that passes two blocks from the house, with a 12-mile canoe ride to Salem, open year round. Great biking routes . There is swimming, but you have to be careful of the currents. The average year-round temperature is in the 50's F, with sunny summers and rainy winters. •One block away is the Pink House, a cute Victorian café with breakfast, lunch and dinner, prideful in the freshness of its food, to be enjoyed in cozy rooms, a front porch or a courtyard terrace. •El Mechànico is a converted gasoline station into a hip bar with outdoor seating and fire pits . . . in wine country. Wine vineyards strew the countryside with Redgate Winery less than 3 miles and Ankeny Winery approximately 5 miles. Independence is one of the most productive areas for growing hops, with Rogue Ale and Spirits having a farm and tasting room a short bike ride away. It has a small Mexican grocery store, an art gallery, a movie theater, several places to eat, .50 cent beef or cheese tacos on Friday nights at the Arena bar, you can get ice cream at The Golden Horse where you can hear all you ever wanted to know about the area. There's the friendly and professional Umpqua Bank, a kid’s playground, an amphitheater with Friday concerts and Thursday movie nights in the summer near a water fountain. A library one block away, a used book store and consignment shop a few blocks away, a post office and city hall a few blocks away, some houses, and not a lot more. •It is a very quiet city, as cities go; few sirens, low crime rate, no yelling or disruptive behaviors that we have heard. It is more noisy for someone used to living in remote areas of nature, and especially quiet if you are coming from a larger city. It takes about 5 minutes to drive through the center of town, and that’s if you are driving slowly. Monmouth, 5 minutes away, has larger grocery stores, a hardware store, more restaurants, etc. Salem, 20 minutes away, has Enterprise Car Rental with its service of pick-up and drop off to Independence, as well as other large city conveniences. Corvallis is 1/2 hour away with an expansive farmer's market, natural food stores, arts connections, and Oregon State University. Independence is a town of less than 9,000 people, with the ocean one hour west, the Cascade Mountain Range one hour East, Portland one hour north and Eugene one and a half hours south. Its central location makes for a soulful place to rest one’s head and heart when wanting to explore diverse areas in Oregon. Willamette Valley rural countryside-driving has waterfalls, rivers, streams, fields, farmland, distant mountains, and natural beauty, easily accessible. Silver Falls State Park near Silverton is an hour drive away with incredible falls and trails.
