Cosy rural hideaway, Hursley, near Winchester

Fantastic rural retreat! Gorgeous cosy space, very private with own secluded garden. Everything that you need for a relaxing break. Five miles from both Winchester and Romsey, a fifteen minute walk to the lovely village of Hursley with its two pubs and great walks! Perfect for IBM Hursley, Peppa Pig World/Paultons Park, the New Forest (25 minutes) and beaches (40 minutes). A great exploring base! 1 double bedroomed, cosy, heated studio (extra single bed - John Lewis sofa/chair bed - in the same room, available on request) which is furnished with character furniture - double bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers. Modern shower room. Tea and coffee making facilities, toaster, fridge, microwave. And a TV if you just fancy chilling! A really lovely place to stay - you’ll have your own garden set within the main house 1/3 acre garden - we have a very free-ranging chicken (Roo), a cat and a very chilled dog. It’s a very cosy space. Perfect getaway! Wifi to keep you connected. You have your own key and the summerhouse/studio is set in its own private garden, accessed through our garden (dog and hens might roam in to say hi - so we recommend keeping your gate closed so the chickens don’t wake you by tapping on your door!) with garden table and chairs. Just make yourself at home! As much or as little as you need! We can give you ideas of pubs to try, directions to beaches or the new forest, or be on hand to help if you need it. Otherwise, you're free to just enjoy the peace and quiet. But please shout if you need anything at all. Peaceful location with easy access to nearby towns and the M3 motorway (only four miles from junctions 11 or 12). London is easily accessible by train from Winchester in 55 minutes. The New Forest is a 25 minute drive away and you'll find beautiful beaches in around 40 minutes by car. Hursley is a very pretty village with two pubs that are walkable in around fifteen minutes (take a torch after dark - or we'll happily drop you down there if we're in!) and a village post office/small shop/newsagent. Winchester is only five miles away and is a really pretty, historic town, with many shops, cafes and restaurants to explore. We've lived in the area for eighteen years, so can give you a few ideas of where to start. In the other direction, Romsey, a small market town, is only five miles away. Again, great for a roam around and a coffee! Nearest public transport is the Stagecoach 66 bus from Winchester to Romsey (Hursley stop). Bus stop is about a 15 min walk away but not recommended after dark as the route is on single track lanes and footpaths. If you're planning to arrive by bus, please let us know and we can pick you up if we're home. A car is strongly advisable to make the most of your stay, but if we're here we'll happily drop you off at the local pub! We can store your bikes in our garages or they will be safe in your garden. One resident, super friendly dog who you'll probably meet as he slowly plods around the garden. He's totally trustworthy and safe, and not bouncy! A bit greedy and picks his own apples and pears from our trees in the autumn! We also have a free roaming hen and a cat that doesn't go far. Please can you make sure you shut our garden gate behind you so the hen doesn’t free range further than planned! You can easily park on our drive. If you’re booking for one or two guests, the accommodation will be set up with the double bed. If you require the single bed, but are only booking for two people, please let us know. There is an additional £10 charge for this, per stay. When booking for three, we will set up the additional single at no extra cost (as Airbnb will calculate a different charge for three anyway). If you’re bringing a child & fancy a night out, we have in-house 15yr old & 18yr old babysitters available....reasonable rates! Just ask. Thank you.
