This newly refurbished property provides an excellent base that offers something for everyone, whether you want to enjoy walking, running, cycling, or fishing in the Pentland Hills or wish to explore the cultural heart of Edinburgh. East Rigg Barn has recently been built on the site of an old Dutch Barn located within the grounds of East Rigg House. The property extends over two levels with a modern open plan living space, double bedroom and shower room on the ground floor and two further double bedrooms (king-size or twin) and shower room on the 1st floor. East Rigg Barn is perfect for family groups and friends of up to six. A modern open plan living area includes a fully equipped kitchen, dining space and seating area that includes a 32” Smart TV. Wi-Fi (currently not superfast) is provided throughout the property, please note that mobile signal can be variable depending on network provider and remote location and we recommend guests set-up mobiles to make calls through Wi-Fi where possible. Private parking is available for up to x4 cars, guests also have access to a private garden of approximately 0.25 acres which includes a patio / BBQ area with uninterrupted views of the Pentland Hills. Guest have access to the whole space. Mitch & Mairi live with their family in the main residence East Rigg House and are available most of the time to welcome guests and help you to settle in. We want to make your stay as happy and enjoyable as possible and can offer advice on how best to explore the local area including the Pentland Hills Regional Park, Edinburgh and the surrounding area. We can provide recommendations on local tourist attractions and the best places to shop and eat, equally we can be invisible if preferred and allow you to enjoy the tranquillity this stunning location. Situated only 10 miles and approximately 30 minutes’ drive from both Edinburgh Airport and Edinburgh City Centre, East Rigg Barn is perfect location to explore Edinburgh and the Midlothian area. There is beautiful countryside and many walks and cycle routes on your doorstep in the regional park including Red Moss Reserve which is supported by the Scottish Wildlife Trust. The village of Balerno is only 2 miles away offering a range of pubs, restaurants and shops, from here you can hop on a 44 bus which leaves every 15 minutes and takes you directly to Princess Street and the heart of Edinburgh. For golfers there are a range of golf courses nearby including the championship course at The Dalmahoy Golf and Country Club. If you wish to explore further afield, Glasgow, Stirling and St Andrews can all be reached by car in approximately 1 hour. East Rigg Barn is located on an unnamed road and is best found by entering the postcode EH14 7JR into your satellite navigation and this will bring you directly to the property. A taxi costs approximately £25 from both Edinburgh City Centre and Edinburgh Airport, however we would recommend you have a car to make the most of your stay. Driving Directions: Travelling from Edinburgh on the A70 turn left when you reach Balerno onto Bavelaw Green. Travel for 0.1 miles and turn left into Bavelaw Road and continue along Bavelaw Road for 0.2 miles. Bavelaw Road becomes Mansfield Road, continue along Mansfield Road for 1.3 miles and at the top of the hill turn right at the wooden sign for Red Moss into an unnamed road. East Rigg Barn is the first house you come to on the left-hand side after 0.8 miles.
