1840 weavers cottage in woody hills

1840s stone weavers cottage, fireplace, remodelled living room, mullion windows, antique furniture and beds. Enclosed backyard + flower garden. Walkers, cyclists, wayfarers, lovers, and children: 1 double bedroom and a wooden attic room with a Victorian single bed (and a futon which is available for additional guests with notice). There is another child's single bedroom but this is not for guests to use. Situated 2 miles out of the closest town, Hebden Bridge, up in the wooded hills and steep pastures - just below the moor top. Amongst all major walking and cross-country cycling routes which can be started from the front door. The Robin Hood pub is 100 meters up the hill serving food. There is wifi, dishwasher, washing machine, creel to hang up clothes inside, a bike shelter outside in front, old stone fireplace with wood stove, an enclosed back yard - useful if you have a dog or kids. There is also a turntable and stack of vinyl (some old pop the rest classical..) an amp and speakers, and a lead to let you plug your laptop into the hifi for TV or music amplification. Guests will have the entire house to themselves. I am rarely present in person to greet you: instead you will find milk, a loaf of bread, and an interesting interior to explore. Beautiful old and mossy woods and pastures of an extraordinary botanical richness and thickness all around, and bathing pools in the rivers to swim amongst the heather and mossy tussocks. Playground and woods next door. Two pubs for eating within an amble of the cottage: Robinhood and Hinchliffe. 15-20 mins walk up or down the hill from Mytholmroyd train station (go to Leeds or Manchester or Halifax) or a round-circuit bus from Hebden Bridge every hour. There are also the rural runnner buses from Huddersfield to the front door. This is not an empty holiday sublet run as a business, it is a family home which is occasionally let out. What you will find is a compact, clean, warm unusual and historic stone house with a subtle aesthetic feel and many interesting objects to look at. There will be plenty of signs of personal use but no personal clutter on surfaces; a sparkling clean stove and fridge with plenty of shelving space cleared for you to share and use, lots of cooking equipment, and for those staying 3 nights or more a drawer or two to use in chests of drawers in bedrooms. There is no television set in the living room. A few non-personal toiletries will be left out for guests to use, including scent, moisturisers and personal hygiene items. If a novel, art book, gown, or kimono, has been left out on a table by the bed, this is because I thought this might interest you yourself - please look after or use them if you wish. There will be a local Cragg loaf and pints of milk on arrival and house notes to tell you small details (wifi) etc. Due to the fact that this house has a wood burning stove and an open staircase I would suggest that guests with very young children should consider in advance if this is the right place for them. This house is not specifically set up with child-safety devices for toddlers or toddler stair-gates. Pets are considered on a case by case basis and people wishing to bring pets must discuss this with me in their initial request to book. All beds are antique and of slightly irregular sizes. The single bed in the attic is a Victorian sleigh bed (albeit adapted and without legs) and is a bit wider and 15cm shorter than modern standard sizes at 185cm long. The futon is authentic and recently purchased in Japan: which means that it is a thin fold-out mattress. While world-wise people and yoga-types will probably really enjoy trying it out reckon it very comfy (as I do), those who suspect that it would not suit them should probably not book to use the futon. There are bikes and with prior arrangement we can discuss borrowing kids bikes (age 7-10, age 9-12) and 1 small frame adult bike. The house is full of objects, art, and postwar miscellania, some of it from Japan, and other countries. Please feel free to touch it and pick it up, but do not take things away. There are also many toys and board games, books, lego, vinyl records and a record player, all which of course can and should be borrowed.
