Brushwood Cottage; walking, beaches & Corfe Castle
This late 16th century thatched cottage has been newly refurbished and sits in the village of Corfe Castle. Upstairs are 2 double bedrooms, one with a king size bed and the other with 2 single beds. On the ground floor is a cozy sitting/dining room, bathroom, with vaulted ceiling and shower over the bath. French doors lead from the brand new kitchen to the patio and the garden with direct access to The Halves. Wifi, nearby on-street parking, low ceilings, gas central heating. Pets welcome. Built out of local Purbeck Stone and Grade II listed, this cottage has been lovingly and sensitively restored over the last year. It has new almost everything (flooring, beds, mattresses, furniture, electrics, gas central heating etc) and has been redecorated throughout. Some of the photos are lacking the usual homely details as the cottage has only just been finished, but new photos will be coming as soon as COVID restrictions allow. All of it We, the hosts do not live nearby and you will be left alone to enjoy your holiday, but if you do need help, please ask as we have local professionals on hand to solve any problems that might arise. This is a great holiday home for dogs and their people. The enclosed garden has direct access to The Halves and from there Corfe Common and numerous walks to landmarks around the area, as well as a children's play area, exercise park and a traffic free route to the village centre. The hot and cold outdoor dog wash, is just as useful for rinsing off wet suits and wellies as our furry friends. The Castle Inn pub is just opposite the cottage and boasts a large sunny garden with views of the steam train. There are 3 other pubs just a few minutes walk away in the village, tearooms, bakery, sweet shop (with jars of sweets on shelves), ice-cream parlour and a well stocked, award winning village shop, that also stocks 350 different gins (at the last count). There are independent gift shops, a National Trust shop and let's not forget, Corfe Castle itself. You don't need to have a car to enjoy your holiday here. There is a good direct train service from London Waterloo to Wareham with onward bus connections to Corfe Castle. From there it is just a short journey to some of the best beaches in the UK. Studland and Swanage are only 6 miles away and both can be reached via the no 40 Purbeck Breezer bus that runs from Poole to Swanage via Corfe Castle every hour and offers great views of the surrounding countryside. Swanage can also be reached via the steam train running through Corfe Castle station on the Swanage Railway.
