Delightful one bed Gite with use of pool

Nestled in the heart of Rochechouart, Numéro 66, is a delightful house with fantastic views over the adjacent valley. The house provides high quality accommodation and is ideally situated for exploring the beautiful Haute-Vienne countryside and the nearby lakes of the High Charente. The town centre, parts of which are medieval, is a few minutes stroll away with eateries, shops, cafes and a beautiful chateau which houses a museum of modern art. Rochechouart makes an excellent base for exploring this beautiful area, or even as a stop over en route to other areas. As soon as you arrive you will be struck by the attention to detail that your hosts Karen and Peter have provided. The comfortable double bedroom is light and airy. Lovely stone steps lead up to a fully equipped living area, and good sized shower room. There is a private patio with table and chairs - ideal for enjoying the evening sun. There is on site parking for one car and you can also use the heated out door swimming pool during the day, this is our family home and the pool is situated in our garden but you are very welcome to use it. The pool is only for use by you as gite guests and ourselves. The house is a separate part of the property with it's own entrance and patio area. There is also a garden with picnic table provided for your use and a BBQ is available on request. Access to the pool is via the front of the main property and is available for use from 09.00 to 17.00 after which it is closed for cleaning and personal use. The pool is not shared with other guests but may be used occasionally by the owners. We are situated in the beautiful Limousin, within which there are endless lakes and rivers where you can sail, canoe, kayak and fish. There are two regional natural parks; the Parc Naturel Régional Périgord Limousin, within which we are situated, and the Parc Naturel Régional de Millevaches en Limousin where you can lose yourself hiking or mountain biking. To find the real soul of Limousin, you need to head out of town and into the countryside. With such a small population and so much open land, the opportunity for outdoors sport and leisure is wonderful. Every few kilometres there’s a beautiful view to drink in: medieval hilltop villages, imposing châteaux, steep valleys, high cliffs and promontories, gorgeous gorges and luscious lakes. The Limousin is truly a paradise for outdoor pursuits. Rochechouart is a town of 4,500 people. There is no railway station but there is a regular bus service to St.Junien and Chabanais from where you can connect to the national rail network via Limoges or Angouleme. The town centre has free parking available for a limited period but you need to display a blue disk showing your arrival time. We have these available for loan should they be needed. There is plenty of unrestricted free parking around the town centre. The town centre is a short walk from the property. The swimming pool is closed from October 14th to April 14th. Since January 2019 we have to collect a tax de sejour on your departure of 1€ per person per night. This tax is to help fund touristic development in the Haute Limousine department and is compulsory for all guests.
