The Architect designed and Master Built passive solar home is set in a large and secluded garden amongst local black gums and natives of the area, it makes the perfect getaway. A 2 ½ block walk has you in the centre of town where you can find restaurants, cafes, and local boutiques. The house is an impressive display of contemporary sustainable architecture and makes excellent use of space and light. Feel at home in the warm-toned living spaces, fully equipped kitchen, and decking looking out to the garden. Four spacious bedrooms are fitted with queen beds, the 5th bedroom has an additional 2 king singles. Upstairs consists of an open studio space with three of the bedrooms and a bathroom. Downstairs has the living spaces, a Master with ensuite and the 5th bedroom. This comfortable and spacious home is perfect for any season; enjoying outdoor summer evenings, curling up by the fire in winter and reading a book or simply take the time to unwind. You will find privacy, tranquillity and a breath of fresh air in this beautiful home. The home has passive solar heating, hydronic panel heating to all rooms and a huge fire place. Entire house - Bedrooms as booked. The hosts, John & Leonie, are local and minutes away should you need anything during your stay. The property is nestled in the quaint township of Woodend at the foot of Mt Macedon. Wander into town for a local coffee or a beer at the new Holgate's Brewery, or drive (or ride straight out our front gate) to Mount Macedon and explore the forest and the Memorial Park precinct. If you are feeling more active, the area is renowned for its cycling and mountain bike trails. The hosts have plenty of tips for local rides throughout the area. The property is a 3-block walk from the Woodend Station. Trains run every hour from Melbourne and are an easy way to explore surrounding towns in the Macedon Ranges. The property has easy access to the 5 Mile creek walk, bike paths and children's playground. Meander into town with an easy 8-minute walk. As the house is designed along passive solar house principles it is well insulated for all seasons with the lovely winter sun creeping under the eaves during winter whilst the summer heat is kept out. On extreme hot days - simply close up the house during the day, open it up when the cooler change comes through in the evening. Ceiling fans are installed in all upstairs bedrooms. There is no requirement to use conventional cooling methods such as air-conditioning, reducing load on the power grid.
