Weaver's Cottage on Cotswold Way
Comfortable, two-centuries-old, terraced weaver's cottage located just off the Cotswold Way. If you are a hiker, a cyclist, an art lover or you are just looking for a base from which to explore the South Cotswolds, this spacious cottage is for you. A number of original artworks decorate the walls, and you are welcome to make use of our book exchange. On the doorstep you will find a range of beautiful walks. The cottage is located within an easy drive of Bristol, Bath, Cheltenham and Badminton. The cottage is a mid-terrace property in a working area of the historic market town of Wotton-under-Edge, nestled at the base of the Cotswold escarpment. The cottage was built to house out-workers for Holywell Mill, in the early part of the nineteenth century when Wotton was a textile town, manufacturing woollen cloth. The cottage is ideal for professionals working locally, for couples and for friends taking a break together. Guests have private access and the sole use of the cottage. The cottage offers a full-sized, fully-equipped kitchen. The amenities include a dishwasher, fridge-freezer, oven, hob, grill, microwave, kettle, crockery and pots and pans. There is a dining table which could double as a work station, a selection of books which you are welcome to browse and exchange, table games and a TV so you can watch your favourite shows. The bathroom has a bath, overhead shower and plenty of soft towels. We have provided wardrobes for clothes, coat hooks for your coats and space for muddy boots for walkers. With the town centre about a half-mile stroll along the Cotswold Way, during your stay you might choose to browse our range of independent shops and cafes, to order a Sunday roast in one of our local pubs, to take a swim at the solar-heated outdoor pool, or to view a film at the town’s independent cinema. If you are lucky you might arrive during one of our art or music festivals, but do also check out the local art centre for music events, art exhibitions and workshops while you are here. The other direction along the Cotswold Way is steep, but after a short climb you will be rewarded by the stunning views around Newark Park, a National Trust estate. There is space for two cars to park in a dedicated area at the back. The property is accessed via steps up from this parking space. There is no fully-enclosed outside space for dogs or young children to play. The stairs inside the property are wonderfully quirky, but also steep, narrow and with low headroom, so please consider whether it is a suitable property for you if you have children or pets or if mobility is an issue.
