Escape Pod - kick back and soak in the view.

Ground Control to Major Tom... My circuit’s dead, there’s something wrong... Time for a quick getaway, in the Escape Pod. Cosy, casual, cool wee pod up on the hill, looking out over Ligar Bay. All the fun of camping, but with the luxury of a double bedroom, private all-weather outdoor facilities and a sea view. Enjoy a cold one in the covered porch or outside on your own sunny patio while you rustle up something on the barbie. A great base to explore the area. 5 mins drive to Pohara & Tata. As huge camping fans, we wanted to create a place to share with family and others that had a simple relaxing vibe and its own privacy from the main house. Enter... the Escape Pod - combining all the simple comforts of a wee bach with the vibe of camping! (Leave your tiara at home!) You have sole use of the modern 10m2 pod, plus a cool covered porch with its own wee bar leaner and stools. Complete with jug, tea, coffee, toaster, crockery, cutlery, pots and pans, and most other things you need for a camp kitchen. Bluetooth speaker to hook up to with your own music device. Private patio with BBQ and gas burner looks out over the garden, paddock and sea. Nearby, but not attached, you also have a private all-weather outdoor hot shower. Great pressure. Bath towels provided. (Please bring your own beach towels). Super clean waterless composting Bambooloo. Uses sawdust, which will later be safely composted and used to regenerate native bush. Do your bit for nature ;) Emptied and cleaned daily. Outdoor sink with hot and cold water for dishes, washing out your togs, filling water bottles, etc. Owners’ home is very nearby on the same property, but we value our own privacy and will respect yours. We will not disturb you. Just text if you want help or pop over for a chat if you see us in the garden. Friendly cats and dogs over at our place. Enjoy their company but don’t take them home. :) We clean thoroughly between guests, but to keep things affordable, we only charge a minimal cleaning/laundry fee. You'll have your privacy - with the pod, porch, patio and garden, plus the outdoor facilities all to yourself. Feel free to wander in the front paddock, too. Self-check in and enjoy your stay. Semi-rural sea view. (Up a private access road shared with only one neighbouring rural block). Our 1 hectare property is a work-in-progress. We are gradually planting more and more natives to regenerate the scrubby bush, enhance privacy even more and help the birds, bees and butterflies. You may see weka, pukeko, harrier hawks, quail, ducks and fantails, among other birds. Kea also sometimes fly down from Takaka Hill and call from the tree tops near the drive. Moreporks can sometimes be heard at night and bellbirds at dawn. Enjoy our garden-in-the-making. It will only get better and better. About 10 minutes' walk to Ligar Bay. Ligar Bay is a wee gem that is often overlooked by visitors heading to the busier beaches. To be honest, we like it that way. It keeps it quieter for us and our neighbours ;). Golden sand, great for walking at low tide, or good for cooling off at high tide. Abel Tasman Monument on the hill overlooking the bay. It's smack in the middle of Pohara and Tata beaches, and within 30 mins of Totaranui. Only 5 mins from the shop and cafes at Pohara or 15 mins from Takaka. One of a string of 5 beautiful beaches along this stretch of coastline - drive 5 mins down the road to Tata for a swim at anytime. An ideal place to relax before or after the Heaphy Track. Parking at our gate on the private access road, by the garage, near the pod. No wifi in the pod.
