Apartment on the piano nobile (first floor) of a seventeenth century with views on to the beautiful Italian garden and the surrounding mountains. The rooms have high coffered frescoed ceilings and historic Lombard "cotto" tiles. The villa is famous because it belonged Maria Gaetana Agnesi, an exceptional female mathematician from the seventeenth century. Her sister was also a famous music composer. Access is via a private staircase from the main entrance (shared with 2 other apartments). The apartment has a beautiful large living room with breathtaking views of the mountains, a separate 'al fresco' dining room with frescoed walls, a kitchen, 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The principal bedroom is where Maria Gaetana Agnesi used to sleep and has beautiful views over the mountains and valley. The second bedroom is between the principal bedroom and the living area and includes two beds and a mezzanine area. The third bedroom is accessed via a staircase from the kitchen with a bunkbed. The two bathrooms are above the main entrance. Secure, gated, free parking is available. The owners are available to help and provide information and advice on possible activities and places to see in the area. Montevecchia is a touristic location for the Milanese. The first hill outside Milan, it gives beautiful views of the Po Valley and the Alps. There are many restaurants in the area. The closest is in the square in front of the villa (La Piazzetta). Half way up the hill (a short walk away), ristorante "Pasqualino" , serves typical local food. In Viganò, a small village in the surroundings, there is a one star michelin restaurant called "Pierino". There are many sport activities in the area like golf, horse riding, swimming pool, bike riding, hiking. Lake Como/Lecco with its beautiful villas, gardens and towns is only 35 mins drive away. Similarly, Bergamo and Milan are about 35 kms away with museums, art galleries, restaurants, shops and entertainment. Having a car is very useful. The train station (Cernusco-Merate) on the Milan-Lecco line is at approx. 3 km away. Train for Milan or Lecco every thirty minutes.
