This beautiful house in the Forest of Dean is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). It has; 2 cats 3 bedrooms (twin, double and king) 3 bathrooms (1 bath and 3 showers) log burner 6 person hot-tub patio gas BBQ/pizza oven Parking for 3 cars The rooms have luxury linens and the beds are extremely comfortable - no expense has been spared. The animal encounters in this area are always surprising! The owners of this house are two cats - Sampson and Wilfy. They love people and will give you a warm welcome. You will be a guest in their house so if you’re allergic, you’re not prepared to feed and love them or don’t like cats, please don’t make a booking request as you will be disappointed. You’ll have parking for 3 cars on the drive, and use of the 6 person hot tub, patio, 2 loungers, outdoor table & chairs for 4, and gas/charcoal BBQ with stone-baked pizza oven. You can use the hot tub and outside areas until 10pm. After that there is a ‘quiet hours’ policy, for my neighbours sake. The bar is available on an honesty box basis. The lounge and the 3 bedrooms all have 42”, 4K ultra HD, smart TV’s. We have SKY, Netflix and Amazon Prime, with lots of movies already downloaded. The whole of the downstairs is wheelchair accessible. No parties or children under 12. Sitting in the hot tub from dusk into night is a magical experience. Hear owls calling to each other and see bats whizzing by. With hot tub lights off and the right conditions you can also clearly see the Milky Way overhead thanks to this being a dark sky area. Shooting stars are common. The wildlife in the area is spectacular. A badger and fox visit most nights and I’ve counted 31 types of birds that have visited the feeders. A pair of Eurasian beavers live in a 4-acre enclosure 5 minutes from the house. You may see kingfishers, three types of deer and wild boar. And if you’re REALLY lucky, you may even spot the rare white albino deer in the forest! From the top of the road there’s a viewpoint - see 50 miles across to the Brecon Beacons on a clear day. Perfect for sunset watching. The house is located right on the cycling and walking trails in the Forest and only 10 minutes drive from the beautiful river Wye - lovely for a wild swim or canoeing trip. Cycling in the forest is fantastic with mountain bike trails to sort all levels of experience. There are several places to rent bikes in the forest. Exploring the River Wye in a canoe, kayak or alongside it on foot is a wonderful experience. There are lots of places to rent boats in the forest. It’s a great way to spot herons, little egrets, dippers, kingfishers and swans. During the summer months you can be surrounded by Sand Martins, who nest in the river banks. There are shallow rapids, very easy to navigate for even the most inexperienced, but fast enough to put a big smile on your face! Take a picnic and stop on one of the beaches along the way to make it a wonderful day out. 3 night minimum and maximum stay only. No parties allowed. Parking for 3 cars We give our best efforts to keep you and us safe from Covid-19, although there are no guarantees. We operate a social distancing policy on check in so I’m afraid that we won’t be able to help you with your luggage though we will talk you through how everything works. You probably won’t see us again for the remainder of your holiday but we will be available by text or phone should you need us. We follow strict guidelines around cleaning. Find the details in the listing. I have added many photos showing some of the best places in the area to visit. Also see the guidebook on the listing. The best way to the house is by car. The best way to see the forest is on foot or by e-bike. The best way to see the river is by canoe or kayak. I follow Airbnb’s enhanced cleaning protocol, which was developed with expert guidance. Here are a few highlights: - I sanitize high-touch surfaces, down to the doorknob - I use cleaners and disinfectants approved by global health agencies - I wear protective gear to help prevent cross-contamination - I clean each room using extensive cleaning checklists - I comply with local laws, including any additional safety or cleaning guidelines - For your peace of mind I will also leave you a cleaning care package with antibacterial wipes, a multi-surface cleaner, antibacterial hand soap and disposable gloves
