The Snug @ Brook House near Bath
Snug, light and airy, attached to a Georgian cottage located in an area of outstanding natural beauty. About 6 miles from the historic Georgian City of Bath and 8 miles from the exciting and diverse maritime city of Bristol. Ideally situated for ramblers being on both the Cotswold and Monarch Ways. The Swan Inn serving fine ales, good food and dog friendly is only 3 minutes walk away. The River Avon and the Cycle Path to Bath and Bristol a further 10 minutes walk. Most local pubs welcome dogs. The Snug is annexed to Brook House, an early Georgian 18C Mill House. It comprises a Stable door into a small kitchenette containing small fridge, microwave, washing machine, Kettle, Toaster, Oven, Induction Hob and Belfast sink. A short passageway leads to the bedroom with standard double bed, bedside tables and touch lamps, small breakfast table and two stools, small wardrobe, small smart TV, en suite shower, toilet and basin. French doors to walled garden and hot tub. Surrounded by countryside Numerous walks passing excellent ‘watering holes’. Most of them dog friendly. The Kelston Round Hill walk gets the heart pumping. A good hour uphill trek for the moderately fit, via the charming hamlet of North Stoke, culminating in panoramic views of Bath and Bristol. The Cotswold and Monarch Ways run right past the gate Chill out in the garden Relax in the Hot Tub- subject to availability- see ‘Other Things to Note’ Enjoy the spectacular views and peace away from the bustle of the city. Secluded garden with trees and Hot Tub (available on request at an additional cost - see other things to note.) Off street secure parking. There is a private entrance to ‘The Snug’ at the rear of the property. Not particularly wheel chair accessible however the access into the Snug is mainly level with one step (from gravel drive down to garden path) plus a step inside the Snug twixt bedroom and kitchenette. The narrowest opening (Entrance door) is 24” width at its narrowest point. We are sociable but equally understanding of those who want their privacy. We will assume the latter unless advised otherwise. We are more than happy to answer any queries. Swineford is a peaceful hamlet on the edge of the Cotswold Escarpment between Bath and Bristol. On the River Avon which as legend has it was forded around 863 BC by Prince Bladud and his pigs. The mud apparently, cured him of his Leprosy and gave rise to the Health Spas in Bath later promoted by the Romans. A good area for walking or Cycling or convenient for accessing Bath or Bristol by car, bus or train. Keynsham Railway Station (for Bristol or Bath) is 6 - 10 minutes drive away (or 45 mins pleasant walk alongside the Avon River NW towards Bristol). For those Steam Railway buffs, In the hamlet of Willsbridge, BS30 6HD, 5 mins - 1.5 miles NW - is the Avon Valley Railway with Museum, good buffet / cafe serving breakfast, lunch or afternoon teas, nearest paved access to the cycle path and working steam locomotives accessing around 3 miles of track. The famous Bath Soft Cheese company is also local on the A431 SE just before Kelston, on the right. One can watch the cheese making process from the comfort of the cafe and purchase homemade products as well as the wonderful cheese. Fresh milk is also sold from a vending machine.
