Traveller's Room - Figueira Oca

The guests will share the common areas with me, my 6 years old child and my 3 cats. Talking and sharing may be great, still if you prefer your privacy, don’t worry, we will be subtle. With doors wide open to the valley, the “Casa da Figueira Oca” (Hollow Fig Tree House – Sounds strange?! You’ll understand it the minute you arrive), welcomes people who are looking for well-being and closeness with Nature. In a small village with friendly and kind people, Figueira Oca is the perfect house to long-for after a day hiking and exploring the local area. Its location is surrounded by the greenness of the countryside, the environment of a small town and, of course, the pleasures of the beach. You are at 40 minutes by car of Lisbon and in 20 minutes you'll reach Sintra, UNESCO World Heritage as Cultural Landscape in Europe since 1995. Ericeira beach, a world surf reserve, is at 15 minutes distance. If you don’t want to travel by car, feel comfortable to take a walk exploring the surrounding Nature. Near the house, there is a small river and in some periods of the year, you are surprised by waterfalls. At the other side of the valley, you can visit the typical west village “Mata Pequena”. If you like local markets, you have a great one every Thursdays in Malveira. There you can buy local products and other things you may need or desire. There are so many places to visit, certainly I can help you with that! At the end of the day, feel free to choose between an outdoor meal or a dinner inside the house. Maybe you can cook those fresh vegetables you bought in the market. One thing I can promise: you will wake up with the birds whistling and at night you'll probably going to listen to some crickets and an owl. The house has 3 rooms - 2 doubles and a children's room, a bathroom and a toilet. Downstairs, there is an open space with a dining and a living area. Upstairs, one of my favorite places, there’s a mezzanine, where you can watch TV (the only one in the house). Outdoor, there is a lounge area, a table to enjoy your meals, a garden to take a little walk with a beautiful and peaceful view. The atmosphere? Just see the pictures! Feel the mood. It’s difficult for me to describe it without being suspicious, it’s my home, with my living memories. If you sense you can be happy here, come and check by yourself.
