Wybalena Grove is a unique, architecturally-designed, heritage-nominated, locally-renowned neighbourhood. See our 5 star reviews for our identical townhouse. Convenient to the city and both universities by car, bus or bike. Double glazing, gas log fire, bamboo floor, great toys & organic cotton linen. Take in the view walking up Mount Painter, play tennis or enjoy two private playgrounds. Save money cooking in a well-equipped kitchen or even invite guests for a wood-fired pizza! :) You won't believe you are just 5kms (10 min drive) from Canberra City Centre! You'll feel like you're on a country holiday one minute and in the nation's capital the next. This is a new listing, so no reviews yet. Please see the reviews for my other property which is nearly identical it has 5 stars. Conveniently located and yet beautifully leafy and quiet. You will enjoy feeling part of the local community. Your home away from home offers these comfort features: * ample light with large windows overlooking native gardens * a gas log fireplace to keep you warm in winter * fully equipped kitchen with high quality crockery, cookware and appliances (including dishwasher) * internal laundry with front loading washing machine, and external clothesline * shower and bath * new floating bamboo floors * queen size bed in one bedroom * trio bunk (double below and single above) in second bedroom * built in wardrobes in both bedrooms * covered single carport - guest parking or free street parking also available * all linen (organic cotton) and towels supplied * large shed for bike storage * we can cater for toddlers and infants - toddler bed, cot, change table, high chair, play pen (just let us know what you need when you make your reservation). * we may have some bikes or helmets available for kids or adults (discuss with us) Nearby amenities: Canberra's finest olympic sized indoor swimming pool is also a handy 10 minute cycle or short drive away. Jamison Centre at Macquarie, a 15 minute walk, has a large outdoor swimming pool/waterslide park which is open in the warmer months. Note that there is no current Energy Efficiency Rating for this property, as no formal energy efficiency review has been conducted since various energy efficiency improvements (such as double-glazing, re-insulation) were installed. You have your own house, with key pad access. Pizza oven, playgrounds and tennis courts are available close by. Optional interaction. We live close by and are available to assist you. Set up in the 70s as an intentional, cooperative community, Wybalena Grove is highly sought after by locals. The community includes many public servants and academics, most typically with environmental sustainability or international development interests. One of the more aesthetically pleasing and environmentally integrated architectural designs in Canberra, some people have said that Wybalena Grove's clustered housing somehow reminds them of a summer camp or resort-type complex. Wybalena residents tend to be well educated and well travelled, as such they are also very welcoming of international visitors. This is great to keep our community vibrant. Our neighbourly pizza oven get togethers are thus regularly inclusive of interesting newcomers. Nearby the local shops at both Aranda and Cook (each 10 mins walk) have been recently been made more cool with popular, relaxed but funky inner city style cafes. If you want a great big mall you'll have to go to Belconnen or the city, both 10 mins drive. But a bit nearer by, the mid-sized Jamison Centre has two big supermarkets, bakeries, fruit market and a few restaurants etc. You've got it all really. Come visit! Regular buses to the city and Australian National University, usually 15 mins depending on traffic. Frequency is every 15 mins in peak times. Cycle via off road sealed paths all the way to the city crossing only a couple of minor roads. You'll cycle mainly along paddocks and around the lake. Gorgeous! Walk to Jamison Centre, Cook shops or Aranda shops. The University of Canberra, Australian Institute of Sports (AIS), Aquatic Centre and Calvary Hospital are a 15 min cycle or 5 min drive. Want night life? We even now have a little bit of that - with the new hipster bar called 'Bolt Bar' open every night and offering pub dinners too. It's just 10 minutes walk away in Aranda. There are also cafes at a similar distance at Aranda, Jamison Centre and Cook Shops. Want to get a little exercise? Bring your bike or take a walk around locally. You can walk up Mount Painter to get 360 degree views around Canberra (see our photos). Canberra has the best and safest bike paths in Australia. You can ride right down to the lake, via Black Mountain playground and the National Museum to the City Centre and Parliamentary Triangle. This is one of the best places to stay in Canberra if you want to enjoy what is so unique and special about Canberra - they don't call it the Bush Capital for nothing!
