The Summer house

Coming to our place is not just a nice place to stay on route to somewhere else. It's a whole experience. The Summerhouse overlooks our lush, wild and beautiful garden, which is part of a permaculture smallholding with bees, orchard, vegetable plots, ponds, stream, woods etc. There's an outdoor kitchen, compost loos, open fire pit, yoga studio and more. And if you want more there are stunning waterfalls and swimming spots a short drive away and nice cafes. Good for couples and solo travellers. The Summerhouse has wonderful views, particularly the sunsets looking over the Cambrian mountains. It has a fitted carpet, curtains and is fully insulated. There is a kettle and tea/coffee provided. The bed is a comfortable futon on a purpose built base and it has a small table with 2 chairs. The blankets and a down duvet will keep you warm but an electric heater is available if needed. There are two compost loos but you are welcome to use the flushing loo in the house if you'd rather. There is an outdoor kitchen you can use with oven and hop. We are vegetarians and would prefer only veggie food be cooked here. The outdoor kitchen does not have hot water but a kettle can be used for washing up. There is an outdoor fire place you are welcome to use and a beautiful yoga studio when it's available. The garden is secluded, but also part of a smallholding growing mostly fruit and veg. We are growing organically with permaculture/eco principles. We are both artists/creative people with artworks everywhere including garden/house murals. Access to the house is available for use of toilet and bathroom, although there are two compost toilets on the property. Short showers only please as the water is heated by wood burner. WiFi is available. You are welcome to be in the garden and on the land but we do sometimes have others staying and occasional events. You will be informed of these upon booking. We will generally be around although we do work away from the property at times and will let you know when we're not around. We are at the end of a small village (Builth Road) in a rural community. Our land runs away from the village and down to a small secluded stream. The locals are friendly. There is a small community garden and park with a childrens play area in the village. There are secluded walks and the river Wye is 10 mins walk away. The Royal Welsh Showground is 15 mins walk away and throughout the year a variety of events take place there We are on 'The Heart of Wales Line', which runs from Swansea to Shewsbury. There are walks you can take from the train at various stations along tyhe line. There are infrequent buses from the village. Builth Wells is in walking distance and there are frequent buses from there. There is ample parking on our property. This is generally a quiet space, Sometimes sheep or the road (A470) can be heard. We have a number of hives of honey bees. Occasionally small events take place here.
