Des Petits Chenes/The Little Oaks
A rural retreat surrounded by farmed fields. It is quiet and peaceful apart from seasonal farming activities. In the kitchen there is a calor gas cooker, fridge and washing machine. A washing line is outside. There is a liazey daisy above the wood burning stove in the kitchen. The sitting room has 2 sofas. Its close to the ports of Cherbourg , Caen or Le Havre. Its suitable for walking or cycling and visiting tourist sites e.g Bayeux, the world renowned bungee jumping Viaduc at Souleuvre. The Little Oaks was possibly a terrace of 3 small homes that have been converted to one building because of this earlier history there are two stair cases one in each third of the first two thirds of the building. The cottage is tucked away in a no through lane. It has french shutters and long french windows that open inwards. Other original features are a fire surround and staircase. There is a french kitchen table and a Belfast sink for washing up. There are two double bedrooms for guests and one shower room with toilet and hand basin. The kitchen has a calor gas cooker, fridge and clothes washing machine. Most items dry quickly on the clothes line strung between two trees out side, and if its cloudy there's a laizey daisy in the kitchen or clothes drying stands. The attic rooms at the far end of the passage way are not ready for guests. Children should not be allowed to access the window sills. However I will be available via my mobile number and or my land line number. There will also be a small leaflet with information to support your stay at the cottage. The cottage is surrounded by farm land. There are lots of small tracks and walks around the area immediately surrounding the cottage. The area of Le Bressis is is about 20 minutes from Vire where there is a station which links to Granville, Caen and Paris. There is a rural bus service. There are good motorway links between > the ports of Cherbourg, Ouistreham-Caen and Le Havre if you are traveling from England. > the main attractions of Le Mont St Michel > Bayeaux Tapestry > The medieval castles of Falaise and Caen > I would suggest also contacting the Tourist information Office in Vire for up to date fetes and local fun days. The cottage is warm and cosy in the winter months when the wood burning stoves are lit. Some wood will be available in the log baskets. Please consider where you may be able to obtain more, before you arrive. Extra wood will be available at a small cost. I hope guests consider this to be fair. Depending on when you arrive the cottage may have been empty for a few hours or more, it will quickly warm up when the stoves are lit.
