The Pheasantry
A listed (Grade 2) three hundred years old stone farmhouse, our beloved family home for over fifty years. It is in the old part of the village in a half acre garden. 1 hour or less from London, Oxford, Cambridge, Stratford and many stately homes. The Space The house is our family home used by us. We reserve four or five weeks a year for our children, grandchildren and friends. Description Downstairs there are two rooms: a large kitchen/living room and a sitting room. The well equipped kitchen has solid oak work shelves and island unit, a new electric oven and induction hob, a fridge/freezer, a microwave and a dishwasher. The dining area has a regency table capable of seating 10 (at a squeeze) and a set of eight regency chairs. The room is heated with part under floor heating, a large multi-fuel stove and a long radiator. The sitting room is comfortably furnished, heated by radiator and open fire. An open tread oak circular staircase leads to both upper floors: see photographs. We, our four children, grandchildren and innumerable friends have used it without mishap for very many years but care does need to be taken. It is a fairly modern replacement of the original very steep narrow stairs. On the first floor there is a bedroom with a kingsize double bed, next door to but not ensuite with a bathroom. There are two small bedrooms, one with bunk beds and one with a small double bed and a very small en-suite toilet and hand basin. On the second floor there are two bedrooms, one with a king size bed and one with a queen size bed, with a shower room between them. Guest Access When we do not have guests we live in the whole house. When we have guests my wife and I move to one end of the property into what were outbuildings but which over the years we have integrated into the main house. Guests have their own entrance and complete privacy, with all the amenities listed above. Interaction with Guests We will always be on hand and will be pleased to give any help we can to make your stay a pleasure. Other Things to Note The village pub, the Royal Oak, is only a hundred yards away; it serves food which is highly regarded. Booking is strongly recommended. There is a wealth of local walks together with a number of stately homes in easy driving distance, including the magnificent gardens and arboretum at Castle Ashby (ten minutes away) and Althorp, Lady Di's birthplace and home. Silverstone, Santa Pod and Bletchley Park are about forty minutes away under normal traffic conditions. + More We will be on hand all the time. WARNING: Danger of scalding The hot water is extremely hot and care needs to be taken particularly where children are concerned
