Mountain bike. Trek. Trail run. Write a book. Or just hang out! Set in a corner of the universe with Mt Kani 5 mins walk. Amazing trekking and mountain biking trails. Bon fires, cooking and comfortable living in Geoffrey Bawa inspired architecture. You cannot find a more wild getaway in less than 1 hr 45min drive from the city. Experience farm stay in a 3 bedroom farm house with a mango orchard. Mangalorean (kaula) tiled roof with large balconies and verandahs lining the entire house. All materials used are local and recycled. The doors and windows used to be the old Karjat courtroom in another lifetime. And the single panel rose wood writing desk plausibly occupied a place at the viceroys office in Calcutta :-) 3 Pillar could be just the introduction to nature you want to give your children. It is closer to Old Mumbai Pune Highway than you estimate and further from city life than you imagine. Bhilvale lake laps at the shores of the farm. (But recedes by 500m in summer) A dirt track of 3 km for those interested in mountain biking (2 mountain bikes part of package). Virgin trekking trails start 500 meters from the farm, and for the more adventurous - climbing faces which need professional gear - available on pre booking at extra charge. Access to the whole house with kitchen facilities and basic provisions like cooking oil, butter, masalas, milk, rice, flour, sugar, tea and coffee. Guests must carry or pick their fresh vegetables, fruits and meats as per their requirement. Kitchen help for chopping and cleaning will be available. However, cooking remains the responsibility of the guests. Carrying fresh supplies with you will save you a trip to the local market unless you feel like exploring. Caretaker with native knowledge will orient you to 3 Pillar facilities and can help with adventure activities. Even though its close to Chowk and ND studios, it's through 1.5km of kuccha road and once at the farm feels miles away from anywhere. The immediate lake access (in summer months the water recedes upto 500m but can be accessed by walking on the dry lake bed), and the 10 min walk to Mt. Kani with virgin climbing trails makes 3 Pillar more of a base camp to explore nature. The best way to get there is by your own vehicle. However, the closest station is Karjat. Serviced by local and long distance trains in the Mumbai-Pune line. The best is exit the station on Bhisegaon side and take a small/ big auto to Dhangarwada via the Karjat- Chowk road. Take a left towards Bhilavale village and follow the dirt road to Dhangarwada. The route is accessible throughout the year. With prior planning we can send our caretaker to escort from Bhilavale to the farm. Last 1.5 km of access past Bhilavle village is kuccha road and then through a tiny hamlet into the corner of the universe. The road can be negotiated in any car as long as its not a tarmac kissing Ferrari. Karjat station is about 5km away. Karjat market about 8km. Chowk market 4km. Lucky Dhaba- famous for Lasooni Methi (specify less oil) and Raj Cottage for ordering decent Dhaba food about 4km. Baba dairy on Chowk Karjat road (5km) is famous for their Pedas and monstrous calorie rich Samosas! You may also carry back home their fresh Cow Ghee (Rs. 700/kg). Even if you don't come back for the farm you'll come back for the Ghee! :-)
