This is a warm (although larger than you would expect!) stone quarryman's cottage in the village of Trefor on the Llyn Peninsula. Set in a row of terraced cottages close to a beach, the cottage has a babbling stream at the bottom of the front garden as well as its own parking area. Although traditional, the cottage also has a 'modern feel' and it is the perfect location for couples or families wanting to enjoy local walks and wildlife or for those who just want to get away from it all. Brand new modern bathroom! The cottage benefits from central heating (although not always necessary with the log burner!) as well as mod cons including a dishwasher, washing/machine dryer, fridge freezer, microwave, fibre wifi, TV with DVD as well as a second toilet in addition to the new large family bathroom with a 'double' shower head including a large powerful 'drench' head. Two sofas surround the log burner and the open plan living area has a family dining table. There is also a second toilet and hand-basin next to the bathroom. The beds in the bedrooms have been configured to provide maximum flexibility for families or couples. The front bedroom has a good quality zip and link bed; so it can either be a superking or two singles. The second bedroom has two single beds but these can also be linked to create a king size double. There is a large private garden at the front of the property that leads down to the stream. As the pictures show the property is in a row of terraces and there is a small communal walkway (about 3 ft across ) between the front door and the front gate of the private garden. There is also a rear yard with sitting out space that get lovely sun in the afternoon. It is ideally placed for exploring Snowdonia and the Llyn Peninsula with plenty of walking on its doorstep. Climb up to the old quarry on Yr Eifl for panoramic views towards Anglesey. Or follow the coastal path which continues around the Peninsula. The local village of Clynnog Fawr has an impressive church St.Beuno which was used by pilgrims travelling to Bardsey Island. One well-behaved dog welcome -please enquire (We ask that they do not sleep on the sofas or beds). Fibre WIFI is available.. but as is often the case in rural settings.. mobile reception can be limited indoors.. but it all adds to the charm!! We are fortunate to be one of the few houses in the village with private parking at the rear of the property. This is accesses by a lane running along the back. The space is not huge, ideally suited to a medium sized car, although we park an estate car in the space at an angle and that does not obstruct the lane for others. Also if you wish to bring more than one car there is a small car park at the end of the lane about 100 yards away. There is a bus stop in the village that has buses (No. 12) every hour or so to either Pwlhellli or Caearnarfon. Housekeeper lives in the village, but we always 'check in' with you during your to check everything is Ok. The village of TREFOR is to be found on the Llyn Peninsula close to Caernarfon and Pwllhelli. Trefor developed thanks to the local granite quarry. Its small harbour became extremely busy in the days when local granite from the Eifl Quarry was shipped to all over Europe. The beach, a mix of sand and pebbles, is mostly sheltered. Nowadays, the inner harbour is mostly occupied by pleasure boats. It is a popular dive site for those interested in SCUBA diving. Nestling at the foot of Yr Eifl (worth the walk to the summit for a spectacular view of Nant Gwrtheyrn) the village of Trefor is popular with families, diving, watersports and fishing enthusiasts and it provides you with an ideal base for exploring the Peninsula. The village itself has a small grocery store and a sub post-office. Buses run from Trefor into Pwllheli and Caernarfon. The beach is just 5 minutes walk from the house. Close by, at CLYNNOG FAWR, there is the ancient Church of St Beuno, a major Llyn landmark on the Pilgrims Route to Bardsey Island. Also nearby at MORFA NEFYN a popular seaside resort, there is a unique 26 hole golf course with a view of the sea from every tee. Trefor is in a prime position for exploring the Snowdonia mountain range or the Llyn peninsula with all its splendid beaches and coastal walks CAERNARFON: The Royal town of Caernarfon just 13 miles away has an impressive castle and quaint old town set within its old city walls. On the road towards Pen y Groes, you can visit the Inigo Jones Slateworks for a guided tour and a Slate craft Shop. Also towards Caernarfon is Parc Glynllifon - a country park offering 8 miles of country paths which cater for visitors of all abilities. The expansive beach of Dinas Dinlle is on road towards Caernarfon. This is a very popular beach with easy access and cafes nearby. PWLLHELI: Pwllheli just 8 miles away is a historical Market town with a range of traditional and local stores, bars and restaurants and boasts one of Wales best marinas with moorings for up to 400 boats. Many of the buildings in Pwllheli are listed, including the Old Workhouse, The Penlan Fawr, Whitehall and The Old Town Hall and a stroll around the town is quite rewarding. There are two main beaches, South Beach with its Blue Flag award, or the Glan-y-Mor, towards the rear of the marina. On the road to Pwllheli just a few miles away is an Activity centre - Glasfryn Wake Parc - for Go Karting, Quad bikes, fishing, archery, wakeboarding and kayaking. SNOWDONIA NATIONAL PARK: Snowdonia National Park the highest mountain range in England and Wales is an area of outstanding natural beauty and contains some of the most magnificent scenery in Wales.Visit the picturesque villages of Beddgelert and Llanberis where the railway can be taken for Snowdon. PORTMEIRION: Visit Portmeirion the beautiful village and gardens built in an Italian style on a rugged hilltop overlooking the estuary designed by William Clough Ellis. Many know Portmeirion for its role as The Village in Patrick McGoohans television series The Prisoner. It is also known for the Portmeirion Pottery, designed by Clough’s daughter Susan Williams-Ellis Trefor has a regular bus service to Pwllheli (15 minutes) and Caernarfon (30 Minutes). Lots of local walks and the costal path goes through the village. Detailed cleaning and sanitisation protocols are now in place. We prefer 72 hours between guest stays and will try to implement this where we can. Some of our homely 'nick naks' have been reduced.
