Abertillery is a small ex-mining town situated 5 miles south of the Brecon Beacons National Park. It has a strong music tradition with local pubs usually providing live music at weekends. The town centre with large supermarket is a 5 minute walk There is also a local theatre, The Met and adjoining quaint museum with cafe. The magnificent Guardian Statue is a 15 minute walk. The Big Pit National Coal Museum is a 15 minute drive and gives a chance to go down a coal mine. It is a free day out! The house is located in a quiet leafy street. It is warm and cosy with all mod cons including unlimited Wi-Fi, state of the art central heating (Nest) a dishwasher & wood-burning stove. The house has a well laid out pretty patio for alfresco dining should the mood take you. There is on street parking with additional lay-by parking a few yards up the road. There is a young children's playground within 50 metres. There are lots of fabulous walks both flat and through the magnificent mountains. Guests will have sole use of the house, but the front bedroom will be locked and will not be accessible to guests. There is a table and four chairs that can be used on the patio. There is also a washing line that can be used. We are providing a self-check service with the key held in a key-lock at the front door. We will provide a contact number in case of queries. Abertillery and the surrounding area is rich in things to do and see. Full list on the Trip Advisor website: (Website hidden by Airbnb) Abertillery benefits from a well-connected bus service to main towns, including Blackwood, Newport, Cwmbran, Brynmawr, Ebbw Vale and numerous small villages in-between. The nearest railway station is less then 2 miles (Llanhilleth) on the Ebbw Vale to Cardiff line, arriving in Cardiff Central within 40 minutes. Full details of the bus and train timetables are kept in the house manual. Abertillery also benefits from a modern sports centre, many cafés and a Wetherspoons, banks, Boots etc (all within a 5-10 minute walking distance). The house is within a few minutes of Route 465 National Cycle Network Abertillery also has free parking in all town car parks.
