They built this house in 1957. In 1955 German turists started travelling back to Lake Garda. They were driving BMW Isettas, taking a bus or a long trip with a train, but could not wait to enjoy summer vacations here. Running water from public aqueduct was the "big thing" in Bardolino back then in 1955 and, at the beginning of the main street in Bardolino, there was a stable with a loud donkey, instead of today's established cafes and ice cream places. Yes, it sounds like a million years ago. In 1957 my grandfather Guglielmo wanted to build his dream-home by Garda lake, a place to spend time with his son Roberto, daughter Ida, and beloved wife Jole, relax from everyday's stress, enjoy sunrises, sunsets, storms, nature, the changes of seasons, write some music and poetry. Those were still hard times and there was not much money around, but my grandfathers were visionaries, so they did not build the usual cheap squared box of those times, but they engaged the reputable Ing. Tretti, who designed one of the few examples of 1950's architecture left in this today's more-and-more gentrified location. His design met the ethusiasm and creativity of two teenagers (Roberto and Ida), so they built a cute indoor-bar in a corner of the house, which reminds and simbolizes a part of a ship, during its imaginary trip on the lake, sea or perhaps through life. This special home was always a place in which family members and friends gathered together to spend time in happyness. If only the piano and the walls could talk ..... And this is what I wish to my guests: privacy, safety, relax, holiday, nice memories. While doing the 2020 renovation, I wanted to keep the original spirit in place, preserving the key features of that architecture, while combining more contemporary lighter colours, technology, and newer furniture, where needed. The house requires care and proper handling, and I will be happy to meet you at check-in and explain you what you need to know. It will take a bit of time (about 1 hour), so please take your time: no hurry which checking-in. I love kids and I am more thank happy to host kids, but this house does not provide all the safety features that would make it ideal for kids from 2 to 12 (although from 9 years old it should be OK). I did not check the box "Ok for kids from 2 to 12" on Airbnb because the pool and the roof-top are always accessible, and parents must be very careful. Pool depth more than 1,4 meters! In order to lower carbon-footprint we use organic cotton linens that are not supposed to be ironed, so please do not be surprised to see non-ironed beds. I take care of other properties of my family, which may be of your interest for your vacation in Italy and Austria, You can find them on airbnb searching: Venezia cannaregio 3341 Kitzbuehel villa sonne hennleiten 2 Verona Piazza bra 10 Please check that hte title of the property contains the words you searched for; also, chech the picture of the host: you should find my picure as host or co-host. Welcome to villino delle rose. Guests can access the whole house, garden, pool, garage. Being a house with garden and pool, maintenance persons (gardener, pool cleaner, maybe a plumber or an electrician if something goes off) will perform their duties during your stay. We will do our best not to distrub you during your vacation and relax, but please allow them to do what they have to, in order to keep the property safe, clean and enjoyable for you and for the next guests. I live next to Verona and work in Verona. I am only 30 minutes drive away from Villino delle Rose, so I will be there if something happens. I will be available via cell phone or email The house is in a residential-only area. It is quite during the day and very quiet during the night. No bars, no crowds, no noise. This is why party is not allowed. The Lake is literally few steps away and there is a tiny coffee place by the water where you can have easy breakfasts or lunches. Cisano tiny tourist harbour is 5/10 minutes walk away. Serenissima Riva and Colombo motorboat docking and service is only 5 minutes walk away. Grocery stores are within walking distance. Bardolino is only 15/20 minutes walk along the lake, so very nice and safe. If you want to go somewhere and do not feel like using your car, the bus stop is only 5 minutes walk away. You can tour the lake by bus or ship, you can go to Verona, Gardaland or Caneva amusement park. You can take a bus to go to Peschiera or Verona train station, take a train to Venice, Milan, Bologna, Florence. Rome is only 3 hours away by train from Verona. Even the Dolomites are not far away at all. You can use your bike to tour the lake or, for longer distances, hop on a ferry boat: daily trips available. Fell like going somewhere and do not feel like using your car? Bus stop is only 5 minutes walk away. How about a trip to Verona, Gardaland or Caneva amusement park? Bus or shuttle available How about a trip to Venice, Milan or even Florence or Rome? Take a bus or drive to Peschiera or Verona's train station, take a train to Venice, Milan, Bologna, Florence. Rome is only 3 hours' train away from Verona. Even the Dolomites are not far away at all. As per Airbnb rules, the house cannot be booked on behalf of third parties; if you book the house you have to be one of the guest. Due to very poor previous experiences (inappropriate dangerous behaviour - like jumping from the roof into the pool, partying loud on the roof till late at night - inviting guests during COVID-19 times, no respectof social distancing, no respect of neighbours and property), we are sorry but we no longer rent the house to younger guests; please do not send requests, they will be refused. REGISTRATION – CHECK IN – CITY TAX Guests under 18 years old are welcome with a parent or a close relative. Each guest has to show a passport or i.d. card with a picture. Personal datas are collected only to be filed on the Italian Police web site, just like in any other hotel. Your personal datas collected by the landlord will not be shared, sold, transferred to anyone else, but kept confidential and used only to fulfill e-filing obligations (Police) and accounting tasks (invoicing etc.). Guests will kindly provide an address and an e-mail address because we have to issue an invoice for bookkeeping purposes, even if pre-payment has been done over a web-site. As long as reservation web-site do not collect city tourist tax, this tax has to be collected cash on arrival 1 euro per day per guest (starting from 14 years old) up to 20 days of stay. HOME CARE, USE AND SAFETY Your address is Via Rossini 4 Cisano di Bardolino Emergency numbers: 112 Carabinieri (some Carabinieri on the lake speak German and some English) 113 (like 911) Police and other emergencies 115 Firemen 118 Paramedics – emergency ambulance etc. Please remember that National health care first aid is usually free of charge or with very little charge; so do not hesitate to call 118, if needed. There is a fire extinguisher in the closet next to the kitchen There is another fire extinguisher in the garage. Some first aid tools are in the kitchen above the table. Guests will kindly be very careful when using sun-umbrellas: wind and storms will damage them, causing hundreds or thousands euros of damages. The sun umbrella on the roof costs 7.500 euro. Please never leave sun umbrellas open when leaving the house, during night, on windy days or when storms are approaching. Please always close sun-umbrellas tightly. Garda Lake's storms are known to happen suddenly; during summer time they are very strong and very fast-approaching. For your safety, we suggest not to rent a motorboat, a sailing boat, a wind surf or any other kind of floating device on days in which there is the risk of a storm; storms are really dangerous. If a storm is approaching or if you leave the house, please close all shutters. This will avoid water to get into the house with strong winds. When an extreme storm happens, some water will leak in the kitchen and the living room; seldom in grandma’s sleeping room. When the storm ends, there will be some water left in the porch as it has settled down over 50 years. You will find 2 tools to push away water in the garage next to BBQ tools; we would be very thankful if you could push the water away. There are also some old linens in the garage, on top of green plastic chairs, that you can use to stop or dry water. Some other tools are located in the closet next to the kitchen. We usually have some bad storms in July and August, hopefully not your turn this time. Things have gotten worse in the last 20 years because of climate change Should the power go off, please check the switches next to the white closet next to the kitchen. If they are all ON, please check the main switch outside the kitchen on the right side. There is a grey plastic box with the main switch. Usually there are no power failure, but you have better be informed. Please watch your kids carefully: pool depth is more than 1,4 meters and the roof top is always accessible; there are no fences to protect kids from the pool or accessing the roof top. Roof top: max 8 adults. The roof top is not suitable for partying or for loads heavier than 8 adults. As advertised, this is a non-smoking house. We would be very grateful if you could empty the trash bins daily (city trash bins 2 minute-walk away, as shown on g-maps and explained by the host). You are welcome to pick up some leaves of fresh basil and rosemary (plants next to the kid’s house). You are welcome to use BBQ tools, coal and wood (free of charge). Many many thanks for kindly watering roses and other flowers once a week. We wish you a very nice vacation,
