A tranquil cottage in the Wye Valley for 4 people
A wonderful setting for our 2 bedroom cottage, on the outskirts of the village of Fownhope, with fabulous views across the Wye Valley in Herefordshire. The property is on the edge of a farm, surrounded by fields and beautiful views. The Greenman pub in the village has great food, a good beer garden with accommodation. A tranquil haven away from busy City life. A 300 year old cottage set on the outskirts of a village, which has a shop and two good pubs. The cottage has 2 bedrooms, a master with a super king size bed and a twin room. There is one bathroom with an electric shower over the bath, and downstairs there is a cosy sitting room which in winter with the log burner going really warms the house up. The TV is a smart TV. There is also a play station with games if you want to use this. The study has 2 monitors if anyone needs to work from home whilst on their holidays. The dining room can accommodate 8 people for meals and in the kitchen there is a built in dishwasher, along with a bar and two chairs if you are a smaller number. The sunsets from the kitchen are out of this world! You will see from the photos we have a substantial vegetable garden which you are welcome to take any produce to eat, and/or if you enjoy gardening we'd be happy for you to look after during your stay. We have chickens also, which lay wonderfully fresh eggs each day. They roam around the garden and neighbouring fields. Their hen house is battery operated so the door closes when dark at night and opens automatically when light in the morning. If you wouldn't mind checking on the chicken's feed and to top it up as and when. Dogs are welcome also, and we have created a cosy bed for them in the kitchen. Fabulous walks straight from the house along the Wye Valley Way and many other local footpaths. The market town of Ross-on-Wye is approx 15 mins drive where there is a big Morrisons for a food shop with a petrol station next to it. There is also and Aldi and a Sainsbury's. Further afield you have the Forest of Dean with long walks, bike rides and lovely views over the River Wye as it meanders its way from the Welsh mountains near Hay-on-Wye, Hereford (the only city on the River Wye), Ross-on-Wye, Symonds Yat, Monmouth and Tintern, meeting the Severn estuary just below Chepstow. Tintern has a wonderful Castle ruin which should be explored. During your stay at our home we will not be around at all, however should you need anything please do contact me by text or (Hidden by Airbnb) We are about 20 mins from Ledbury train station, 40 mins from Gloucester train station. I would recommend driving so that you can then explore the surrounding area. We are 3 hours from London, 70 mins from Swindon, 1 hour 30 from Bristol, all by car.
