Spacious 7 bedroom period house with games room
Newly available, The Old Rectory was once the rectory of John Dee, Queen Elizabeth I’s alchemist and sits in the shadow of the parish church. Bring the whole family or your group of friends together with plenty of room for fun or relaxation; an ideal space to stay if you need some quiet time to work from home. A games room with snooker and table tennis; a dining room that can seat 16 and plenty of outdoor space to socialise, relax or play a game of croquet or boules. Guests have the use of the whole main house throughout their stay with its own entrances (front and back doors and french windows onto the large lawn). There is a double sofa bed downstairs in the study which can serve as an extra bedroom to increase accommodation to 18. There is a snug and conservatory for more relaxed and informal seating so plenty of places for children to play or grown-ups to have peace and quiet! The wood-fired hottub is the perfect place to relax in the tranquil and tree-enclosed large private garden. Should you require access to a washing machine, please let us know in advance. Someone will always be on hand to answer any questions you might have throughout your stay Leadenham Polo Club is just on the doorstep should you wish to watch the game of kings or give it a go yourself! There are several local pubs worth visiting and Lincoln is only a 20 minute drive where you can see the impressive Cathedral and Castle. There are many beautiful National Trust and historic family homes to see or, for the more active, Rutland water is a fantastic day out and only 40 minutes down the A1. For a more leisurely trip, there are many stunning walks in and around Leadenham. There is a farm shop and tea rooms in the village, together with a Spar at the local garage. There is a bus that goes from Grantham to Lincoln each hour but you will probably want access to a car for larger food shops. We are going through a period of restoration on the original sash windows so we apologise that some of the windows look a little less than elegant as the work continues during quiet periods More photos to follow!
