Sherwood suburban oasis 🌳

A large, private, self-contained area in the lower storey of our home with edible gardens all around you. A spacious air conditioned/heated bedroom, private bathroom and toilet, and a separate living area and kitchenette. Relax by the pool, courtyard or deck and enjoy the permacultured gardens. Short walk to train/bus, cafes/restaurants, supermarket, library, park and river. 20 min to city and 1.5 hours to beaches. A beautiful, safe, quiet neighbourhood. A large & bright bedroom with an orthopaedic queen-size bed, dining table, hanging rack and drawers. Split cycle air conditioning. Decor is fresh, vibrant and clean. Pool area (shared), relaxing undercover outdoor areas with chairs and edible gardens around you. KITCHENETTE - A private, modern kitchenette for your use with basic cooking facilities - a microwave and an electric 2 hob cooktop (also a BBQ in the courtyard) and an air fryer. Medium fridge/freezer. Toaster, coffee plunger/coffee, teapot, kettle, pots/pans and many utensils. We supply a small pack of UHT milk to get you started and some cereal, teas, ground and instant coffee, salt, pepper, sugar and more. BATHROOM - private bathroom with lockable shower and separate toilet. We supply towels, bath mat, hand towels, face washers, soap/body wash, shampoo & conditioner plus other items. LAUNDRY - The laundry is shared and just outside the kitchenette door and undercover, so we can all access it privately. Please don’t do washing at night. Brisbane is very warm and clothes dry outside quickly on the undercover clothes line. SOLAR POWER - the home is completely solar powered so we ask our guests to try to wash clothes and generally use electricity during the day, rather than after hours. OUTDOOR AREAS - There are a number of places to relax outside. Around the pool are chairs to catch the morning sun in summer and all day in winter. There's also a large undercover back deck with couch and chairs overlooking the food forest. The back yard is a developing urban permaculture food forest so you will find some herbs and vegies you can use in your cooking there and everywhere around the home. We also run an Airbnb permaculture experience for those interested in learning about permaculture or any aspect of this... please ask us for more information if this interests you. The back yard has a fenced pond with Queensland native fish and luscious ferns and is slowly being turned into a native and bush tucker area. It is very tranquil outside our home and a lovely place to wander and relax. UPSTAIRS - three of us live upstairs. While we try very hard to be as quiet as possible for you, we aren’t silent during the day. You will hear some movement and the floors are wooden so you may hear some gentle footsteps. But all in all our guests don’t hear much and remark on the quiet and tranquil experience of staying with us. You are more than welcome to come upstairs if you want some company and a chat. We are very sociable people and enjoy a drink or chat with our guests. Just let us know and we can arrange a good time. SWIMMING POOL - a lovely pool area where you can swim or just sit poolside and enjoy some sun and a glass of beer or wine. Our guests often enjoy this shared space. BRISBANE - Brisbane is a beautiful city on the banks of the Brisbane River. On your desk is a booklet that has a few ideas for visiting Brisbane, such as Southbank Parklands, ferry rides, art galleries etc. If you (Hidden by Airbnb) search “Things To Do In Brisbane” you’ll see a website of the same name to research what you can do here. It’s a great website. Please ask us for any further information about visiting Brisbane and we will be sure to assist with any of this. Private access to your accommodation is through your own gate beside the carport and then either into the front door or the outside door to your bedroom. Happy to chat anytime or enjoy a drink with you in the evenings. Just let us know. Otherwise you're free to have as much time to yourselves as required. Please note, we live upstairs. During the day we move about as families do and you are likely to hear our movement below as we have wooden floors. It’s not noisy, but if you are coming to stay in order to sleep of a daytime (eg shift work), please be aware this might make it difficult for you. Our neighborhood is safe and very quiet. It's clean and friendly and neighbours know each other well. We have lived here 19 years and love Sherwood. It's really quite special. It's very green and leafy and close to all amenities and an amazing park you don't want to miss. A nice place to come to rest and have some quiet but close enough to the city and local shops that you can get into the action in about 7 minutes. It's always such a special feeling coming home. You can't come to Sherwood without visiting the lovely Sherwood Forest or 'Arboretum'. This is a 2-3 minute walk downhill and a delightful stroll around the river and duck ponds and waterways. A lovely park with BBQ's and playgrounds. Safe parking is on street front outside the home. The train is 5-7 mins walk. 20 mins by train or (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) by car to Brisbane city. You'll need to purchase a Go Card for public transport travel in Queensland when you arrive (NB don’t purchase the tourist card). These are available at most newsagents or train stations. Please be aware that there is one step down from the hallway which runs from the bedrooms to the bathroom and one step up to get into the actual bathroom from the hall. We do have handrails to assist but it may not suit someone elderly or with disabilities so please talk with us beforehand to be sure.
